Say something nice about wisconsin (2021 edition)

Francis "Pug" Lund of Rice Lake, WI was an All American and captain of the 1934 Gopher team that went 8-0 and outscored all opponents 270-38 en route to their first of 3 consecutive national championships. Shut out wisconsin 34-0 to bring home the Bacon and wrap up the natty.

The football field in Rice Lake is still named after him today

The House on the Rock

Wizard Quest

The Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the Moccasin Bar in Hayward.

My Uncle's cabin up in Bass Lake Township.

My dad lives up there now in Webb Lake Township I think.

My extended family has had places up in the Hayward Lakes area since long before I was born, so fond memories there.

Stone Lake Lion's Club 4th of July fireworks.

The A&W in Baldwin.

Fun memories hanging out with my hippy friends in Ashland at Northland College.

The Dickeyville Grotto

As our fabulous President likes to say: "C'mon, man!"

I noticed the post count in this thread is growing like an underground cicada here. I spent the first 19 years of my life in wonderful Wisconsin, and hurried back 32 years later. Can't y'all try a little harder to be Minnesota nice?🤔
Okay - there are some scenic parts.

Cabin life is good and the distillery down the road is nice.

Spotted Cow would be a pass over beer if it were nationwide. Keeping it contained to Wisconsin simply makes it a novelty. Not bad....but certainly not great.

But nice things about Wisconsin......the Dells. Also Butch Vig is from Wisconsin.

I don't know if it's the NICEST thing about Wisconsin but you have got to admit, I can't think of a state with more serial killers. Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, Walter Ellis, David Spanbauer and now the nutcase who drove his car into the parade bystanders all hailed from the Badger State.

What is the deal there, anyways???

Door County is a beautiful area. Also salmon fishing.

Wisconsin's Town Names:
1) Hurley - yes, I once drank to much and you guessed it...I hurled
2) Luck - I have gotten lucky in luck, but I don't kiss and tell
3) Pardeeville - Truth in advertising
4) Rural - How lazy can you be in your town names (yes, it's rural)
5) Random Lake - If the best you can do is describe a lake as Random, you probably live in Wisconsin.
6) Baldwin - Follically challenged? REJOICE! You are winning!!
7) Institute - My guess is this should have been the state name.

Honorable mention - Cudahy (need I say more?)

I was going to say Hurley's mascot used to be Midgets, but apparently they changed that in 2019 to Northstars. There are some unique mascots along the WI/MI border including Midgets, Modeltowners, Flivvers, Speedboys, Eskimos, and of course the ESPN famous Watersmeet Nimrods.

They were there for the Minnesota Twins to punch in the mouth this year.

They were there a few weeks back for the Timberwolves to get a win.

They were there 3 days ago for the Vikings to get a win.

We need them for some wins. I like them.

Don't forget the Westby Fighting Norskes and the Monroe Cheesemakers.

I was unaware about the Hurley Midgets - WOW!

HM: Hustler. Unfortunately, there's nothing there to hustle.

It is an average to below average place to take a dump on the way to Chicago.

Ummm...ummm...ummm. Give me a minute, I'm sure there must be something.

What about Spread Eagle? Or how about the towns Pound and Beaver being next to each other?

Tons of great Native American city/town names like Oconomowoc throughout the state!
