Say something nice about Iowa thread.........

Somebody started this one last season, so I'm just continuing the tradition! The only decent memory about Iowa is that I got laid in Waterloo once!!!:clap::clap::clap::pig::pig::pig::clap::clap: Go Gophers!!!!!

Ouch!!! John Wayne Gacy's sister?

Their fans usually get the I-O-W-A chant right. Usually.

They have cameras that snap pictures of your liscense plate if you are speeding which is great for two reasons:

1. You will be able to continue your trek through the miserable state as fast as possible with no delay
2. You avoid any/all social interaction with an Iowonian (the cop)

Sorry, I forgot! Once dated a girl from Iowa State University. She was from Britt,Iowa. They have a yearly Hobo Festival there. Whatever!! Go Gophers!!

As a native born Iowan, and wife of BilldGopher, and sibling to an ardent Hawkeye fan, most of the normal Iowa insults are being hit. (compliments)

When they were looking for a new state motto (maybe back in the 80's) my favorite was "warmer than Minnesota, and more interesting then South Dakota."

For the record I am from Cedar Falls...and there is no comparison between it and Waterloo.

Some of my best game days as a Gopher have been when we beat Iowa.

Iowa's the Midwest's Big Sky country. I think that is probably what I miss the most. Mrs. Billd.

I have 2 great cousins from Des Moines. They have the wisdom to be Cyclone fans.

world class brewery toppling goliath from decorah to start bottling and selling its beer in the tc early 2014 - removing last good reason to visit our friends south-of-the-border and simultaneously decreasing a minnesotan's chance to be molested in a corn field by a hundred fold.

The Westboro Baptist Church is NOT from there. Also slavery never officially existed there.

These are important things that Iowa didn't mess up.

The Hessen Haus in downtown Des Moines. A few years ago my wife and I were there when our daughter and her teammates made Level 8 gymnastics regionals in Des Moines. We and two other couples went to the Haus and ordered one of their big boots, which you're supposed to keep passing around until it's gone, without it touching the table. It's a lot of beer, and I wasn't sure how we were going to get through it. To make a long story short, SIX boots and a round of pints later...it was gymnastics moms gone wild. I have pictures. To this day we still say, "We'll always have Des Moines."

DJK offers great deals on various illicit substances.

I have been to states further away from MN more often than I have been to Iowa. Srlsy, I have been in the state of IA no more than 12 times.

Something called the Iowa Double Cut porkchop at the Machine Shed will convince you that IA has the finest pork in the world. So good you'll want it for Thanksgiving dinner.

I second that. The Machine Shed rocks

Okoboji is a pretty sweet area, and only a few short miles south of the border.

Actually, I think they basically get it wrong everytime after the first one. The cadence they use make it sound like they are chanting A-I-O-W.

May be true, but 10 or so years ago I went to a Gopher game there and the "W" and "A" signs got mixed up and the crowd cheered I-O-A-W a good three times before realizing it. So classic. I believe others on this board have recalled that story as well in past years. 100% true.

Something good about Iowa....hmmmmm....well:

#1- The last time I had to drive through it, it only smelled like pig poo for 3/4 of it instead of the whole time.

#2- The lady at the gas station was only 300 pounds this time and didn't have a huge booger hanging out her nose.

Sorry, that's all I could come up with.

Something nice about Iowa?.....It is not Arkansas or Mississippi.

how about that horrible Story City mega rest stop with restaurants and restrooms. unclean place to eat or anything else.

They actually have a pretty cool Civil War Memorial themed rest area along 35 in the northern part of the state. Want to say Williams. I always made sure to stop and use the facilities there on my trips down to Des Moines to visit my friends.

I once spent the night with a lady I met at a bar in Iowa. The nice thing I have to say about that experience is that I did not need to wait long for the sink because she was pretty quick about brushing her tooth.
