If Roman is committed to being a TE and Drake also ascends to the level of QB many think he can, then I think Roman has the measurables and skillset to be that Tyler Warren type talent for MN. If that were to happen and MN also has recently recruited RB Estrada in the backfield, it could be fun to see where this offense can go. I'm also not discounting all the very talented O-line kids they have brought in the last few years and there is reason for optimism. So, if we were to also add Petersohn to what's already going on with the DEF side, maybe these kids can make some noise in the next 2-3 years.Today I checked out some of Roman's HUDL vids. His combination of size and athleticism is obviously unusual. To hear people on this forum, his anticipated position is TE. ...I think he'd be a defense-buster as a TE or WR (which it appears to me he also plays). He's got a combination of speed and size that defensive schemes really can't effectively deal with.
He looks more than talented at LB, as well. Naturally aggressive. Intuitive sense of where the action is, combined with instincts to go right to it.
If he's already slated as a TE, then he is. That said, he could play several positions.

Minnesota State Top 4 Horses:Don't forget Trout, Johnson, Karmo, Stendel, Tarawallie and Howard, all top 3 in-state guys the last 3 years like Petersohn.
The name of the priest who baptized me was Roman Paur. I kid you not, his name was Roman Paur.Out with the Greek and in with the Roman!
Oh, you were there! And realize she's not actually there.![]()
Great point. Definitely feels like we are doing a much better job of landing the top in-state guys in recent years. Always going to be a battle for those top players but Fleck seems to be doing a solid job convincing them to stick around or come back when they leave.Don't forget Trout, Johnson, Karmo, Stendel, Tarawallie and Howard, all top 3 in-state guys the last 3 years like Petersohn.
Hey! There are plenty of oars for Greeks and Romans!Out with the Greek and in with the Roman!
I thought I read where Alabama was going to use him as a tight end, and we were going to use him as a linebacker. Now I'm reading we are using him as a tight end. Did I get bad information?
Never gets old.
Minnesota IS a Helmit School!!!Awesome to see top guys picking the home state school over the helmet school. Hopefully Petersohn follows suit in the near future and the trio of Perich, Voss, and Petersohn becomes something special at the U.
I completely forgot how terribly that game started. Wow.Never gets old.
For Gopher football fans/addicts like everyone on this site in the off-season, Roman's commitment alone made this a great MN sports day. However, the second thing that put a smile on my face was after clicking on the 247 Team rankings and seeing Minny move up to #14, I also had to take a gander at what our neighbors to the east & south are doing. So, looking at their current rankings, I think there has to be a lot of gnashing of teeth as we all know how much each fanbase hates PJ. However, these current 247 rankings are like icing on the cake for me:
We view Voss as a TE and Petersohn as a LB. I think Penn St. viewed Petersohn as a TE.I thought I read where Alabama was going to use him as a tight end, and we were going to use him as a linebacker. Now I'm reading we are using him as a tight end. Did I get bad information?
Right now, the fact that Petersohn left Happy Valley this weekend without committing to PSU was a win for Minny, just like Voss and Bama. I think seeing the energy around the team and having another top MN kid in Voss commit only improves our chances. We view Voss as a TE and Petersohn as a LB. I think Penn St. viewed Petersohn as a TE.
Going to be honest -- seeing Wisconsin having fewer recruits with a lower average rating excites my soul. However, Iowa with four 4* recruits and an average ranking of 88.54 doesn't make me feel like our class is blowing them out of the water. Either way it is good to see how good we are doing and this year does feel like we can maintain a top 30 ranking (I expect us to have recruits who get more bumps up than down). For Gopher football fans/addicts like everyone on this site in the off-season, Roman's commitment alone made this a great MN sports day. Buckey has no 4-star commitments. Got love it!!!For Gopher football fans/addicts like everyone on this site in the off-season, Roman's commitment alone made this a great MN sports day. Hopefully, the Gophers are able to design an offense around him like Georgia did with Brock Bowers. I’m not saying Voss is on the level of Bowers per se, but he sure looks like he could be in that vein. Georgia moved Bowers all over the field and he was a nightmare matchup for opponents. Hopefully Voss can be the same. But you have to be have the creativity to go that route from a coaching staff standpoint. We’ll see.Today I checked out some of Roman's HUDL vids. If he's already slated as a TE, then he is. That said, he could play several positions.
That part hasn't changed. Until he signs in December, he's free to change his mind as often as he wants. With all the new NIL, rev share, etc.
Is there anything that Voss actually signs, and sooner than later?
A real, legal contract binding him to at the very least enroll at the U next spring, summer, or fall (not sure which?) through the end of the 26 season?
I don't expect him to change his mind, but technically there is nothing legally binding him to come here, right? He wouldn't lose his eligibility to play in 26 season if he changed his mind?
I can only see him changing his mind if OSU, UGA, Texas, or ND get in the mix. Perhaps they're not going after TE currently which is why they haven't offered. That part hasn't changed. Until he signs in December, he's free to change his mind as often as he wants.
Feel he's pretty solid though if he already turned down Bama and others
