However, he did as well here as he did at Long Beach for a lot of years, so he was what he was - just an average coach. The U didn't kill his career. Tubby replaced him and was doing fine until a dumb AD decided to let him go without a plan. We ended up with a great guy who wasn't ready to coach in Pitino.
