Murray Warmath has died at age 98. Passed away at 9:30 p.m. after being in grave condition past few days.

Rest in Peace, Coach Warmath. You will be missed, but hardly forgotten. You touched the lives of many young men on your teams, and fans in the student body, community and state.

RIP Coach Warmath. You will be missed and will forever live in Golden Gopher football history!

Murray was a great man and a great ambassador for Gopher football. His smile could light up an entire room. Seems surreal that he is really gone. We have heard so many times over the years that he was in "grave condition," and yet, there he would be, at an event or a game. I hope that we all take the time at the home opener against Miami to raise a glass and salute a legend.

RIP

It was great to see Coach Warmath get the loud ovation from the crowd at (I think) the USC game last fall.

What a great ride!

I was hoping too see him get to another Rose Bowl. He was confined over the last few years, but knowing coach he would have found a way to get out there. Would love if the staff put some kind of tribute to the coach on the uni's

Time for that bronze statue. Warmath and Beirman on the plaza.

Not only did we have a real chance of winning every game, but we were also feared during much of his career. RIP Coach

Hope they do something nice to honor him again this season.

Rest In Peace, Murray Warmath. Other than possibly Bronko Nagurski and Bernie Bierman you had a greater positive influence on Gopher football than anyone. I propose that the Gophers punt at least once on third down at a home game this year to honor your legacy.

He was a great one. From 1971 to 2010 he never lost his passion for Gopher football. I'll never forget his wins over number one Iowa in 1960 and number one Michigan State in 1961.

RIP Murray Warmath. I will never forget that loss in 1961 to Wisconsin in one of the worst officiated games in the History of Western Civilization. Julian Hook was obviously clipped to spring open a huge Wisconsin gain. No flag was thrown. Hook laid on the field in obvious pain and all we could hear was Coach Warmath yelling..."Hook is dead. Hook is dead. Hook is dead."
