Respect for VCU

Hate on Bomani all you want but his sentiments (although kind of harsh) are pretty much spot on about the reality of the Minnesota job.

Minnesota is at very best the 6th best job in the conference. I'd put us in the 6-8 pack with Purdue/Wisconsin behind a top 5 of Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State/Michigan, Illinois in that order.

If you think a random hot name assistant would go to a middle of the pack job in the most competitive conference in the country you are delusional.

The only reason a guy like Smart would come here is if he had a major bromance with Teague. End of story.

Of course Bomani is correct (in this case anyway). Never argued that point.

But true to form, he has to break into ghetto speak and make fun of Minnesota rather than just say "no, he's not going there." Like I said, TMZ sports version 1.

That was my point. And that's also why he fit's right in with the "worldwide sports leader" or whatever ESPN calls themselves.

I'd bet $$ bomani doesn't know who Teague is or where he works. Of course, Teague being here is why people think Smart might come here.
Also, Tubby could have coached a lot of places when he chose to come here, yet he still chose to come here.

Ghetto speak? Come on, it's twitter ffs.

Why does it frustrate you that an entertainer is trying to be entertaining in media?

I agree that Teague is the only aspect of the Minnesota job as it stands that would make it even a remote possibility. With remote meaning a >1% shot.

@BTNMikeHall: How about the offensive explosion by the Big Ten the first two and a half days. Stop playing BigTen defenses, it's a lot easier to score

Don't have Big Ten officials allowing defenders to mug ball handlers and hack shooters.

It was easy to notice that in the first four minutes of last night's game. I thought both teams were going to be in the double bonus before the under 12 minutes stoppage. It took a little while but the Gophers adapted pretty well.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much influence an AD has over a coach's decision.

Athletics is definitely a relationship driven business in most respects, but its still a business. $$$ talks, prestige matters, and ambition drives major personnel moves.

I guess all rules of English go out the window because its "twitter" right? After all, he's talking to the "homies" and "bros".

As a so-called "journalist", it's crap. But taking a look at Bomani's twitter page, it makes perfect sense. He's perfect for ESPN and their idea of "covering" sports.

Just another reason why I am glad that "twitter" is something other people do....

Whoa. Lots of hate for Bomani lol IMO he is one of my favorite people on ESPN and twitter. He is incredibly intelligent (regardless people's thoughts that he uses "ghetto speak") and is one of the few analysts who tells it like it is.

His YouTube shorts, Bomani and Jones, are pretty good. One of my favorite analysts.

But yes, is usually on Around the Horn and on OTL occasionally as well. He isn't on ESPN often, but does make appearance. He is just very candid on twitter. During the Badgers game he was live tweeting it and since the Badgers had no names on their jerseys he referred to guys as Napoleon Dynamite (Mike B), the fresh prince/Robert Horry (Ryan Evans), and that dude I went to high school with (everyone else). Was pretty funny.

@bomani_jones: my guess? none. tubby most likely. RT @KoachButch: who's the next tourney coach to go...Tubby,JT3,Gottifried????
