USC, UCLA approved to move to Big Ten in 2024

USC and UCLA were notified Thursday night that their application to join the Big Ten has been accepted.

Trips to LA wouldn't be bad.

USC and UCLA, two of the Pac-12's flagship programs, are planning to leave the conference for the Big Ten as early as 2024, and a move is considered imminent, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

There is still a formal notification process, as the two schools have to let the Pac-12 know their intentions to leave. USC and UCLA also have to formally apply to the Big Ten. According to a source, that process is underway.

Big Ten presidents and chancellors will meet to vote on the addition of USC and UCLA on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET, sources told ESPN.

I'm old school so prefer the smaller regional conferences. This is mostly about money, again, and it feels like the Big and the SEC are going to be 2 largest conferences.

Not a big fan of these so-called super conferences. It's okay for the revenue sports but it doesn't make much sense for the non-revenue sports. Am I correct in thinking that the BIG will try to secure more conference members from the Western part of the US?

I joked in another thread in one of the other forums that we will soon have one big national conference with multiple regional divisions. Teams will primarily play within these divisions for division championships but will play teams from outside their division in the early season during what will be called the non-division portion of the season!
