Link? W/o having read through all of the near 700 posts hear, did you specifically hear this from Coach K? Otherwise I doubt he said he'd take all three - he can't comment on any recruits prior to them signing on the dotted line.

Was going to say the same thing, but figured he meant Coach K said something like, "We'll take a center and 2 PFs" and he just read between the lines. Regardless of what Coach K did or didn't say, I'm convinced he'd take Reid regardless of what Looney/Okafor do. Hopefully Reid decides not to go there though and it's all a moot point.
 

I really wish Pitino and the coaching staff would move on from Reid. He's going to Stanford it's best we have our focus elsewhere.

If he's going to Stanford he'd be wise to wait and see if Johnny Dawkins keeps his job. Unless of course coach is of secondary importance.
 

The last visit to Minnesota is an official, correct? If I'm not mistaken I thought Travis' father said he would not be taking one to the U because it would be more of Travis showing Pitino around. Good news is the visit is an official.

I either saw someone link it on this thread or in the all things recruiting thread, and quite frankly, it was a tweet from one of those recruiting guru's. This isn't the Times or the post I don't owe you squat when it comes to a link, go through the archives if you're gonna pull a dpoll.

There's no reason to stop recruiting him. We already have a PF in this class so losing him won't be as big of a blow. But we just found out that we are going to get his last official. That is a huge deal and shows we have some semblance of a chance of landing him, especially when you factor in that his dad said we wouldn't get an official. He's also been on campus multiple times since his Duke visit. I am starting to think Reid is our best shot out of the Big 3.

Seems like we have a legitimate shot at Reid, which is great, a month ago I was pretty certain that we were out of the running. Feels good to have some hope, even if there's a good chance it will be squished in the next month.

Totally agree, no way you stop recruiting him. Although I do think he will sign elsewhere, I would recruit him as hard as possible and hope you pull it out. I was thinking that RV had the best chance of signing with MN, but maybe I am wrong...
 

I feel pretty confident that if we can land Reid that Vaughn will come. He would have a dominate big man down low to take some of the double teams off of him and he would have Dre and Wally to pop 3 and slash to the basket.

He very well might not select the Gophers, but I really doubt that he would keep showing up at Gophers practices and go through an official visit just to "toy with the fans and media." I'm sure he has more important things to do with his time.

Yeah, I don't think a kid would continue to go on multiple unofficial visits if he was completely uninterested in the school.

His interest is indeed genuine. He's not toying with anyone. He's a straight shooter.

But if Myke has some inside info, I'd like him/her to come clean.
 

I think Gonzaga is the odd school out with Stanford, Duke, and Minnesota fighting hard. Ultimately, I think Stanford wins, but I think Minnesota has a shot, a better shot then Tum Tum. It would be nice to get a five star PF. If we get him, maybe we can get ourselves a five start SG in Vaughn. That would make a fantastic recruiting class.

Honest to goodness, a 5-star anything would be the centerpiece of a very good class and would make the Gophers a real threat in the league immediately. The wet dream of two 5-star players is too much to even hope for. That, combined with Andre as a senior - assuming he's still here - would make the Gophers a conference title contender if not favorite.

I know we've talked about this before. I just like talking about it!!

He wouldn't waist his time visiting the campus and watching the Gophers practice if it was lip service, I feel the same way about Ellenson, the more they hang around, the more comfortable they get, and the probability of landing them increases, still a longshot but definately in the picture.
 

Is this our first official visit from a top 100 recruit?
