You can be a great player from any program, but the EYBL circuit gives you a true indication of where your strengths and weaknesses are at. I think Kneepkens would of had success in the EYBL because of her size and shooting ability. NuNu is at Metro stars because Hopkins is using metro stars at a recruiting AAU program. She would of been a nice EYBL player.
Heyer had a nice HS career, Jr year was better then Sr year. I hope her game evolves because she is a tweener at the next level.
The kid with the biggest upside in the 2022 class is Lily Meister and she played for the Fury.

This group already discussed small forward (SF) McKynnlie Dalan. I will add what I think makes this player exciting.

Dalan is a 3's shooter. She scored many points from the perimeter.

And she shows tenacious effort on rebounds with good movement. She hustles. She's a defense player -- an outside shooter and an inside defender.

That ability to go inside and outside is so valuable in the modern game of basketball. The modern game has seen the emergence of the coveted "3 and D" player that can play tough defense inside and hit the 3's outside. Too often players can do one but not the other.

I think Dalan had 18 rebounds and 30+ points in one game. We don't know how it will translate in the Big Ten -- she played at 1a level -- but she looks the part including her strong, long 6' 1" wiry build with good inside movement skills.

A hidden gem? We will find out.

Related, shooting guard/combo guard Mara Braun is a devastating 3's specialist and tenacious at defense. Her game tape as a sophomore hustling to defend phenom Paige Bueckers is legendary. As a guard, she's not expected to rebound like a small forward, but she hits the 3's and has the D. Braun brings so much to the game and will be an upgrade at shooting guard.

In modern basketball the most valuable player, I think, is the shooting guard that reliably hits 3's and can cover well the opposition's top shooter (Mara Braun), and also good defender forwards with size that can stretch outside to reliably shoot 3's: snipe the shots deep (3, 6, 9, 12) that deflate the opposition late in the game, stretch the defense, stifle the other offense into bad shots, rebound, force the turnover for a quick score...

Potential "3 and D" Mallory Heyer in high school was a good defender near the rim at power forward and then increasingly shot many 3's at the outside including playing small forward. Word is that post player Rose Micheaux has been working on outside shots. I do not know enough about others. I think forward Nia Holloway wasn't great at that kind of shooting (yet). We will see...

That's the way Linds, you've really got the ball rolling now. The rest of the Big Ten had been discounting the Minnesota program but, that is now at an end!!!

Wirth had NCAA Division I offers from IUPUI, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota, St. Thomas MN, Youngstown State, and Minnesota. It's still early in that process for the emerging 2024 center -- or it was.

Dalan has zero social media presence. I could not find anything.

She also picked up a Utah offer a few weeks ago and twitter follows arent the best indicator but the last coach to follow her was an Oregon assistant so big name schools were starting to look at her at least. Locking her up this early might be a bit of a gamble but I think its smart.

"Wirth plays for Altoona (Wis.) High School. In her sophomore season in 2021-22, she averaged 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 57% from the field. She led her team, the Railroaders, in points, shooting percentage and blocks while being named all-conference."

I have read every post on every page of this thread and on most threads on most forums on gopher hole. I just see that it was giving proof to a Utah offer I suspect I am missing a detail of a the intended message. If I miss connecting something, friendliness is appreciated.

Two posters asked what offers the two recent commits had in posts 553 and 555 above. Bfan posted with a tweet from Wirth showing one offer.

Minnesota had 15 nominees for the girls McDonald’s All-American game, which was played Tuesday night in Chicago. The only states with more nominees were California, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

Whalen, who retired from a 15-year career as a WNBA player and now is the head coach of her alma mater, signed a four-player recruiting class for the Gophers for next season that was ranked 10th in the nation by ESPN. The entire quartet is from the Twin Cities area.

Heres an update from prephoops on Tessa. I was at her volleyball game Wed night and Whalen and Collen were both there.

“Where is Tessa going to go?” That seems to be the question on everyone’s lips these days as numerous college commitments are being announced by Minnesota’s top girls basketball talents. The Tessa in question, of course, is Tessa JohnsonTessa Johnson of St. Micheal-Albertville, the #1 prospect in the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2023. There are plenty of suitors for the uber-talented guard. Dawn Staley and her staff from the University of South Carolina were in town this week. So, too, was head coach Nicki Collen and company from Baylor University. Lindsay Whalen and the University of Minnesota staff have been following Tessa here, there and everywhere for what must seem like an eternity by now. We should have an answer soon.
 

It looks like Kennedy Klick had her official visit over the weekend.

Also, Jordan Zubich was in Nebraska and picked up an offer. Kendall McGee, Jordan Ode and Tori Schlagel (Eden Prairie) were in Iowa on unofficial visits. Kendall posted she got an offer. Aubrey Galvan was in Wisconsin on an unofficial visit.
