In reverse chronological order from top to bottom (i.e. from most the most recent quote to the earliest quote during the show):

Kill on Marquies Gray: "We certainly want him to have a role in the game...could be quarterback, could be receiver, could be both"

Kill on scheduling: "Do we want to do this the entire time I'm here? No."

Kill: "If I'm not the answer, then let me go"

Kill: "This program is not where Glen Mason had it at one time"

Kill: "I was hired to change 45 years of frustration....sooner or later you have to trust a guy to change it"

Kill: I told Norwood 'he could cut my salary $100,000 a year. I want to win"

Kill: "All I'm asking people to trust me. It will work."

Kill on taking North Carolina off schedule: "We need to get our kids as much playing time, win some games, and gain confidence"

Kill says his seizures have 'actually gotten better'. He says he has missed 4 practices in 10 years.

Kill on seizures: "1 out of 6 people in the state of Minnesota has epilepsy...I'm not a freak and neither are they". This is my own note: Some complete piece of shiite internet hero/know-it-all sent an email into Coach Kill calling him a freak because he has epilepsy. Unbelievable how evil and putrid some people really are.

I had 3 questions.

Why did they read the flame email on the air?
Did the U cut $100k from Kill to balance out he UNC $800k loss?
Do 1 in 6 Minnesotans really have epilepsy?

I had 3 questions.

Why did they read the flame email on the air? Why not. There is nothing wrong with calling out people for their disgusting behavior and putting them on the spot. Some passive-aggressive mid-westerners may not think so, but they would be wrong.
Did the U cut $100k from Kill to balance out he UNC $800k loss? Email him or Norwood Teague and ask him yourself if it is a big concern of yours.
Do 1 in 6 Minnesotans really have epilepsy?
No, I am sure Coach Kill is just a huge liar and is making this stuff up out of thin air. Come on, man. Come on.

I think we could have beaten North Carolina on the road...I wanted to see North Carolina at TCF. It's not like it was Oregon or Auburn. I know he has a plan, but I don't get why NC was such an issue for him.

I'll say it again, parski, as long as you keep repeating...Lather, rinse, repeat.

According to the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation's website, 1 in 26 people in America have the disease (Approximately 2.2 million Americans). It doesn't specify by state. If it's one in six in Minnesota, that's highly disproportionate to the rest of the country.

According to the Census in 2011 there were 5.344M people on MN. And according to this:EPILEPSY FOUNDATION OF MINNESOTA INTERVIEWS & RESOURCES
Coach Kill is Just One of 60,000 Minnesotans with Seizures

Doubt he actually gave up his salary.

I'd be surprised if 16.67% of the people in Minnesota have epilepsy, but the call/e-mail screener is probably in a bit of hot water and they should be. Horrifying that anyone would even think of e-mailing a comment like that and that it would be read on a coach's show. Totally despicable.

Edit: Checked the Epilepsy Foundation website, which states that 1/10 will have a seizure during their lifetime. If a person experiences two or more unprovoked seizures, they are considered to have epilepsy

What??? Are you trying to be funny again?

No. It is just that you have asked the same question, though slight variation, time and time again in different threads.

Maybe no one can answer your "I don't understand why...." series of the same question.

Parski, you asked me a question, I have the right to answer. You did not like my answer, so the mature thing to do is tell me to shut up.

Got it.

I'm sure Kill "thinks" they can beat UNC on the road too. The difference is, as a coach, he's gotta look at the entire wellbeing of the program, not just a hype game for fans. In his opinion, the value of playing @UNC is not as great as the value of playing a "lesser" opponent where he can get more playing time for more kids out there, and put yourself in a better position to win more overall games during the season. I'm not sure why that's hard to understand honestly. You can not agree with the premise, but that's clearly his angle on this, like it or not.

I'm really not sure why people are debating the two different scheduling philosophies. If we were or were not scheduling teams like UNC it would be a whole different of topic.

The point is we are paying $800,000 to drop UNC and apparently not getting an additional home game to recoup the the pay-off.

Fantastic notes, lots of interesting little nuggets in there. Appreciate you putting these up, I tweeted many of them.

The fact that the email was acknowledged is dumbfounding.

The email wasn't read on the air, nor was it emailed into the show.

Kill simply said he received a personal email from a fan earlier this week where the emailer said something to the effect he was embarrassed to be a fan of a team that had a freak for a coach. He said the email called him a weakling, or something to that effect. Kill clearly wanted to address it on the air, as he volunteered the info and went non-stop for about ten minutes. I thought Kill was great, said he didn't like being called a freak, that he's just leading his life like all others with seizure disorders do. Challenged the email to visit him personally to see what kind of weakling he was. I literally think Kill was picking a fight with the guy.

My mistake

No, he clearly doesn't, which you even stated later with this "win more overall games during the season" argument. He clearly has no faith in being able to beat North Carolina, hence the schedule change to "win more overall games during the sesaon". Makes you start to wonder how many other games he pencils in as losses each year. And its not that I don't understand what he's doing. I completely understand what he's doing and apparently so do many others. He simply has made himself look like an idiot in doing so. That's where it begins and ends.

I am no longer amazed at what Kill will do to deflect when he perceives he is on the hot seat. Anyone who says he is a freak because of his seizures is a knuckle head. However; I do question how everytime we have a big loss it becomes public that he had a seizure? This is especially annoying when I know for a fact other issues never see the light of day.

Why do we need to know that some idiot sent him a letter? Is it to garner sympathy because of the heat he's getting for (correctly IMO) making his schedule easier? I believe it is. I also don't think he needs to (make excuses). While I believe he is down playing the team he inherited, there is work that needs to be done before his future as a coach should be questioned (4 to 5 years worth).

Wow, simply wow.

It's AXE week, and all were talking about is a stupid non-conference game that was cancelled with North Carolina, people are speculating the coach is on the hot seat, or talking about the coaches health issues for this bit of PR(game cancellation) and the Newspapers and Sports radio are only talking about the cancellation of the game and the 800,000 dollars paid. I know the media TV and radio have very little expectations even the Gopher radio media crew in Grimm and Gaard expect very little of the Gophers this week. All we can do is crack jokes, and complain why we dislike Wisconsin and all of past characters are barely showing up to comment, were not even getting trolled by that many Badger fans or the usuals suspects like Badger In Ohio Valley to tell us how bad we stink and have no chance. That and Injury's to guy's on our team.
It is a sad state of affairs that we seem like were reaching for excuses and reason to feel down or bad about the Gopher Program.

This is a time when we should be saying "BLEEP that" let's hope this team goes out and makes a name for itself this weekend and puls the upset and that a Senior class finally get's to CHOP down there stinking goal posts.
I'm hoping we at least put up a fight, it get's tiring getting spanked and rolled by these Red guys from the East, we need to actually do a little more than bite them on the ankles, the Gophers do not need to talk smack or even talk at all, this week they just need to outplay, outhustle and outwork the Badgers. Good things will come to them if they do these things.
Yes this is a sad state, I know very few or any of us feel like we have a shot to win but stranger things have happened. For those of you going to Madison this weekend, let's hope you and the team bring a to hell with that attitude.
This team needs to and can bring home the AXE. The Gophers can win, this Badgers team isn't the Rose bowl teams that have kicked our butts in the past. Purdue and Illinois suck and are not as good as Iowa and Northwestern. We have taken our lumps the first two games (some self inflicted) but we are by no means already beat or have lost this game. It's easy to be the fool and say we have shot, but we do have a shot to win, we have some fast guy's and who knows, fast guy's get loose on a few pass plays and we start scoring and you just might see the upset. Even a blind squirrel get's luck some times, we need to make a little of our own luck. Go Gophers

Thanks, this board needs more of these types of posts!

I bet it was Pantherhawk who sent that email! I wouldn't put it past him one bit!

The apostrophe ( ’ although often rendered as ' ) is a punctuation mark, and sometimes a diacritic mark, in languages that use the Latin alphabet or certain other alphabets. In English, it serves three purposes. Please especially pay attention to #3.

1) The marking of the omission of one or more letters (as in the contraction of do not to don't).
2) The marking of possessive case (as in the cat's ass).
3) The marking as plural of written items that are not words established in English orthography (as in P's and Q's, the late 1950's). The use of the apostrophe to form plurals of proper words, as in guy's, banana's, etc., is universally considered incorrect.

I'm glad Coach vented about that email. There may have been others but, nevertheless, he obviously has a lot of pent up emotion about the whole ordeal. He may be somewhat embarrassed but I'm guessing that he's more frustrated by any seizure that keeps him from his work. It's apparent that he's also concerned of a perceived notion that he's weak or less capable because of these episodes.

If I were a player on that team I would be PROUD of him and all that he is able to accomplish while dealing with this! I WOULD NOT be ashamed at all! In fact I could not think of better man to lead me and provide an inspiration in so many ways and on so many levels. Coach Kill is one of the strongest people I "know". It may not be what you would envision from a head coach but think about it - what better example can you think of that could inspire you to FIGHT THROUGH ADVERSITY!!!!!!!???? Embrace him and learn from it.
