Quotes from Coach Kill on his weekly KFAN radio show

I am no longer amazed at what Kill will do to deflect when he perceives he is on the hot seat. Anyone who says he is a freak because of his seizures is a knuckle head. However; I do question how everytime we have a big loss it becomes public that he had a seizure? This is especially annoying when I know for a fact other issues never see the light of day. And mostly I hate him because he couldn't get my son an NFL gig and I am "one of those parents."

I think we could have beaten North Carolina on the road...I wanted to see North Carolina at TCF. It's not like it was Oregon or Auburn. I know he has a plan, but I don't get why NC was such an issue for him.

North Carolina has a good chance to go 9-3 or 10-2 this year and is expected to be better next year. Auburn is 1-5 this year. You kind of lose credibility when you throw Auburn in there. What makes you think we could have beaten NC on the road next year? The last 6 years of Gopher football dominance? I'm just wondering.

I am glad to see somebody point out what Sportsfan24's true agenda is and why he is doing it. Kim was a great player but things didn't work out for him. Therefore somebody has to pay for that.

Why do we need to know that some idiot sent him a letter? Is it to garner sympathy because of the heat he's getting for (correctly IMO) making his schedule easier? I believe it is. I also don't think he needs to (make excuses). While I believe he is down playing the team he inherited, there is work that needs to be done before his future as a coach should be questioned (4 to 5 years worth).

Yikes!

I can't stand the man but I don't have an agenda. If I did I'm going about it poorly. I mean first I should not have let everyone know who I am. I should have changed my sig. I should have never told anyone I dislike the man. I should never give him praise, credit or take his side on unpopular issues like dropping tough non conference games and scheduling patsies.

Have you ever thought that I don't like him because I have a good reason not to? Nah, it can't be that.

Anyway; folks around the program and in the media are quitely speculating that Kill is developing a pattern when it comes to his health and criticism. I'm one of them....opps I guess I shouldn't have told you that.

Clarification; the speculation is not that he is faking or having health issues. It's that he makes sure folks know about them when it's convenient.

Kim?
Let me end by saying this. In my life I have made mistakes as a man and as a father (one of which was influencing my son to attend MY college of choice). I don't shy away from those mistakes because mistakes don't define me as a man or father. What defines us/me as people is how we respond to those mistakes. Me? I take ownership and do my best to correct them (even when it damn near bankrupts me). No, I don't like him (I reallly should stop saying that:)) but I would never assign criticism towards him because I don't like him. That would say (negatively) more about me as a person and man.

And there it REALLY is.

Kill gets criticized for not being public enough with his epilepsy, yet he's also using this condition to deflect from his losses? Interesting.

Fair point.

I'll speak for myself; I could be flat out wrong....just stating a honest opinion (not married to it but leaning that way).

Your theory only works is if he is having other seizures after games. Did he have one after New Hampshire or Syracuse?

I tihnk he realizes that his condition has become very public and he will now deal with it publicly. Is that strategy and a pr ploy or is it a desire to be open about his condition to help others? It could be one, could be the other or could be both.

As far as I know, he is the only public figure who deals with epilepsy and seizures. I am sure it is inspiring for those who deal with it as part of their daily lives.

Seems like a mis-speak rather than an attempted exageration

According to the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation's website, 1 in 26 people in America have the disease (Approximately 2.2 million Americans). It doesn't specify by state. If it's one in six in Minnesota, that's highly disproportionate to the rest of the country.

Sounds like a heat of the moment mis-speaking. This does not strike me as a Michele Bachman/Al Gore "Ah, I'm about to say something really stupid" statement. The number is not really crucial. They fact that people afflicted with epilepsy are not freaks - that's what is important.

Part of the problem in my opinion is that in today's world, when you're a celebrity, everything gets put out there. And it gets put out there a ton. So it may seem like he's constantly talking about it when really he isn't. We just all get so much more information than ever before.
