Quinn Oseland commits to Minnesota!

Despite Limegrover saying our OL has a lot of work to do (must be true), I think it really arrives this year, perhaps because of the extra hard work. We need classes of OL like this to reload.

Great choice, Quinn. Welcome to Gold Country! Proud to have you coming on board.

A couple clips of Oseland and he goes up against Jashon Cornell in one of them. 2016 targets Caleb Bright and Jake Heinrich featured as well.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I think we were ranked 84 on 247. Now we're sitting at 70.

Some real gems in there, such as:

"This is why I don't see the allure. With all Kill's issues last year, I don't see him making it as long as Beckman. And then what do you have other than a 6-hour car ride to get home each time?"

If Tim freaking Beckman coaches past this November it will be a near-miraculous feat.

Lol. Even in the awful stretch of 2010-11, Minnesota still managed to beat Illinois twice.

Lol what does this even mean?

"How many kids come out of Minnesota on average a year that play at high profile universities an shine. A handful maybe. Minny gets a gets a bigger ratio of their starters out of state then we do. Oseland could see himself as a big fish in a small pond, here the pond isn't all that small. So could be why and why he went and would stay even if Minny does not show well this year or as issues. "

This is funny.

I agree they are calling out our coach for issues when he and his staff will be here solidly in the fold and Beckman is going to need a miracle to surrvive at Illinois past this November. Good stuff Illini fans.

And I thought just wisconsin and Iowa boards were bogus, Illinois can join that group now. They must be sipping a little to much on grandpas old cough medicine.

The stuff on the Ill board was extremely tame. Nothing to even mention. Just the typical 'we'll be better than them', 'coach won't be around long' type of stuff

I'm amped about this type of recruit. With Berkeley and/or Jeff Jones running behind dudes like these, that's very nice! Go Gophers!

From TDG - Minnesota Football Recruiting: Quinn Oseland Commits

By Matt Humbert

Hey, remember the recruiting BBQ last month? Coach Kill just landed arguably the largest (figurative and literal) prospect in attendance. Springfield (IL) Sacred Heart-Griffen offensive linemen Quinn Oselandcommitted to Minnesota this afternoon, the fourth prospect to attend Kill's Recruiting BBQ in late July and ultimately make the call. Oseland is a 3 star prospect according to 247Sports' Industry Composite, choosing Minnesota over finalists Illinois and Oklahoma State. Quinn listed nearly a dozen offers, including several other Big Ten and national programs, such as Oregon, Michigan State and Louisville. Oseland is the 10th member of the 2015 class and fourth projected offensive line prospect.

I like to see him get a bit quicker. The shot of Cornell blowing by him easily in the one video made me wince a little. When he is locked with a defender they stay locked until the whistle blows and awesome push in the run blocking. I'm definitely excited to see him play on Saturdays.

State Journal Register: SHG lineman Oseland picks Minnesota

But it was Golden Gophers’ coach Jerry Kill and his staff that felt like the perfect fit for Oseland, who visited the Minneapolis school in July.

“Probably after the visit; that’s when I felt most comfortable,” Oseland said. “I talked to all the coaches, got to meet them and got to see what they are all about.

“I think it was the overall package. I looked at everything when I go to visit places. Obviously, it’s a great school, a Big Ten school. I see them winning, their staff has been together for a long time and they’ve pretty much won everywhere they’ve been. I’m comfortable . . . with that staff because they have the longevity I look for.”
