Sorry guys, these are really choppy. Was getting distracted many times when typing, so please, chime in with any other tidbits you picked up on.

• Today, I want to reiterate my commitment to the University of Minnesota
• I'm deeply disappointed. Sexual harassment at the U of MN will not be tolerated. The U takes this issue seriously.
• We'll search nationally for a new athletic director. This is the action of a person that made a bad decision, not of #Gophers athletics.

• Did female coaches address concerns to you (didn't catch this whole question)? There were coaches that expressed concerns, specifically track.
• I'm not going to give any details about the incident, because the U has a primary responsibly to keep the confidentiality.
• This is the 1st report on Norwood Teague that the University has received.
• It's important that the people that brought these complaints forward remain anonymous.
• If you met Coach Kill, you'll see that he wants to move forward.
• No knowledge of legal action that these women are taking upon the U of MN.
• There is no severance package for Teague, he is offering to offer his services on an hourly consulting basis. He may have knowledge of the donor relationship. His hourly rate is $285/hour.
• 3 months of Cobra because it's a medical issue.
• Teague is the face of Gopher athletics, I'm not minimizing that, but it's one man, it does not reflect the culture or an athletic department
• This was a bad night, and I asked him to get an alcohol assessment and manage and event. If you have an event like that, you need to look at what you're doing more personally.
• Would he have been fired? If he hadn't resigned, the investigation would have gone forward. There would have been findings with a recommendation for discipline, and possibly a recommendation for termination.
• I'm not going to give the details of the event, if this happened at an University event.
• I'm working hard to articulate the importance of confidentiality.
• The details of this, are just that, and if you piece together enough details you'll be able to find out who they are.
• We had 2 complaints they occurred on the same night.

Kaler preached the confidentiality, now this?

Why in the world would they release the text messages. As if the guy isn't humiliated enough.

It just seems so contradictory, he kept on saying how they wouldn't give details, because people could put it together and identify the victims...why give these details???

Probably better to just release now rather than have deadspin or someone get them with a Freedom of Info Act request later.

Bingo!!!

It is better to be ahead of the game with this than have to respond.

Yep, controlling the information like this is the best thing for the U to put it behind them and move on.

Go Gophers!!

Since this is the Kaler thread, and these were released there...

Just wanted to make a brief note that GopherLady's avatar image of Brett Favre seems entirely appropriate and timely considering the context of today's matter. Brett Favre was himself an expert sexter. :D

Geeez. Hard to believe this guy ever ascended to A.D. at a major conference school without this happening to him before. This is the sort of stuff you might see from a 19 year old getting drunk for the first time.

I bet this has happened before, and this isn't the last we've heard of NTMT (Norwood Teague's Mega Tounge)

Why is it assumed that records regarding employment and discipline are subject to Freedom of Information Act requests? Almost all such records are shielded.

Anyone else completely surprised we are reading what seems to be the full complaint and text transcript like a couple of hours after this broke? I understand people are making the point about "getting ahead of it"... but this just blows me away.

Easier to release this because he resigned? Had he fought it, would they have released it? Was it actually officially released or was it leaked?

I have seen a few of the so called texts and I truely hope there are better ones.

Not that shocked. Plenty of politicians, have been in this kind of scandal. Imagine if Clinton and JFK had text messaging in their days in the oval office. I doubt Norwood is an alcoholic, I think he's an idiot, if he thought he could get away with this, but people in power sometimes believe they can do whatever they want.

Anyone else looking forward to ESPN covering this ad nauseam during the TCU game? Super duper!!!

After reading through this thread, I have to think that Norwood was a leading contributor to the Gopherhole! If not, he'd certainly fit in well with a handful of characters here at the GH.
