Not to mention it was set up as well as it could have for East. Playing in the rain (usually evens the playing field), and the game was moved from MSU-Mankato to East on the day of.

Under normal conditions, West probably beats East 9 out of 10 times by 30+ this year. But that's why they play the games. I was impressed with East's QB Eggert and WR Gong.
 


Minneota was definitely not in. Few inches short. Annoying.
 







So far on Friday - Class A: Mayer Lutheran's offense found a way to score enough points against Minneota's defense. Minneota hurt themselves with turnovers, and when they got behind, their passing game wasn't good enough.

Class 2A: Chatfield held on for the win over West Central Area. Sloppy game. WCA had opportunities in the 1st half but multiple turnovers kept them from gaining an advantage. in the end, the WCA coach went for a 2-pt conversion after their second TD, but they came up inches short, and never got the ball back.

Class 4A: as I write this, Hutchinson is winning fairly handily over Kasson-Mantorville. Hutch is just too strong at the line of scrimmage and has too many good RB's. And Dave Lee is doing play-by-play on TV. Oh joy.
 



Hutch should be required to move up to 5A

I think the score doesn't even tell the story. It was pretty much domination. Mayer gifted them a TD at the end of the half. But otherwise out-gained them by 100 yards. Could have been a bigger blowout, but the Mayer coach made lots of dumb decisions on offense. But their defense hung on.

Yeah he stood out.
As did the other “big dude” who played fullback too. Was like 5 8 or 9..can’t remember

the hutch running back stood out too
 



KSTC does an impressive job with these tournaments. Darrell calling the big game is pretty cool.

Great day of football. Hoping to catch at least the Mankato West game.

Very impressed with the how the games were organized and televised. It is high school football but it felt like a bigger stage.

Always hated that. New athletic kid would sign on at Mayer Lutheran, and suddenly the Lutheran Churches in the Carver County area are passing the collection plate around for an extra offering to support the High School.

That would leave the Lutheran elementary schools short funded and they were using math books that were torn at the seams with pages falling out, but at least Mayer Lutheran won some basketball games.

No. They provide sports for young kids as a feeder for the school. They do not recruit athletes.

Ha! When was the last time that Lakeville was a little outpost burb comparable to Northfield?

Must be the 1970's?

Heck of a show by LeRoy-Ostrander in the 9-man final. The LRO QB set a new single-game Prep Bowl record for total offense.

Class 3A Game Dassel-Cokato not the most exciting team, but a solid running team.

Class 5A - Mankato West can really play defense.
