Predict who will be the next Gopher Football Coach

Jimmy Dugan from A League of Their Own. Scratch that, pretty sure he's fictional and dead. Paul Crappy Chryst.

mike grant. a successful head coach, currently employed, and has won multiple championships. Maturi has been hinting at him for awhile now.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Phillip Fulmer

The stated objective: A Tubby Smith type hire. What is that.

1. A nationaly known 'big name'
2. A fairly long resume of college success from one of the elite type programs.
3. National championship(s) on resume.
4. Hall of Fame type credentials.
5. A move that most would consider a 'step down'.
6. A coach that is probably not appreciated as much at present school.
7. High values
8. A coach from a different part of the country.
9. This would probably be his last HC job.
10. A name from 'out of the blue' that no one would have ever thought.
There is only one coach that this could be, joe paterno.

Come to Minnesota

Phillip Fulmer

My friend is a Tennessee fan. Well, partially. He's first a 'Bama fan, but his dad is a Vol, so he's a Vol fan #2.

Anyway, I told him about Fulmer being a mentioned candidate for the Gophers job, and he likes it, despite the age.

When both teams are good isn't Alabama v. Tennessee a pretty big rivalry? That dude is in a tough position.

I like Fulmer too, he is on my short list. No one had mentioned him on this thread and I want the t-shirt.

But he led the James Madison Memorial Spartans to a Big Eight Conf. championship. Oh, the Lancers and Purgolders tried to stop em but Memorial had tricky plays.

Golden. Has made something out of absolutely nothing. The Gopher job is better than Temple and we'll pay him more.

GL, thanks for the contest.

Jimmy Johnson. :)

Ok for real...Mark Richt.

I think it will be Sumlin. Another former Big Ten guy this time from Purdue. He should do a better job than Brewster, but that isn't saying much. We need a guy that will really get the people around here excited and rally around him and I don't think Sumlin is that guy.

I would hate to pass up on Leach, Belotti or even Fullmer if they are interested. If Leach doesn't get hired here I think we will be kicking ourselves when he goes somewhere else and does very well. I have a hunch this is going to be like passing up Bobby Ross for John Gutekunst.

Maturi shocks us all.....Gary Patterson.

His buyout is in the $1.2 mil. range... and he makes approx. $2.5 mil./year... would really have to spend some serious $$ to land him... but I'd love to see it.

Doogie

where is it written that he has a 1.2m buyout? Do you have a link or is this from your source?

If contract buyout is waived by Georgia, Mark Richt.

preferences, not a prediction...

1. Bellotti
1a. Patterson
3. Hoke
