Predict the Score Thread: USC at Minnesota

the Gophers need to play a near-perfect game. 60 minutes of football with no turnovers, fewer penalties, and Better Special Teams Play.

I just don't think that this team is capable of doing that against a ranked opponent.

USC 27
Gophers 20

(hold down the fort, folks. I have a family wedding to attend this weekend, so the best I can do is sneak a peek or two at the score during the reception.)

MN hasn’t really faced a throwing team yet, and didn’t fare well versus a good running team. This is going to be a tough task for the guys. OTOH PJ has rediscovered the forward pass and MN has another good QB which gives us a chance.

MN 24
Southern Cal 33

Bad streak going against P4 teams. But, we should have beaten UNC and had we not surrendered a blocked punt in the Michigan's red zone, probably should have beaten Michigan.
Beating USC: 1. Play a complete game, or even a three quarters game; 2. Stop missing tackles that should be made (technique); 3. Give Brosmer some time to go thru progressions--he is 71% when pocket isn't collapsing; 4. Play with a varied tempo to keep USC defense guessing. We are very close to being 4-1; only one beatdown. USC is very good, but we have strengths, too. Go Gophers.

PS: If we get to second down and 2 or 3, LOS past our own 40 yard line, give Jackson and Spencer some chances on downfield throws that are 50/50. You never know.
