Predict the Score Thread: Rutgers at Minnesota

Q1: Minnesota 7, Rutgers 10
Q2: Minnesota 17, Rutgers 17
Q3: Minnesota 20, Rutgers 17
FINAL: Minnesota 27, Rutgers 24

Minnesota 24
Rutgers 17

Gophers 43
Rutgers 0

Not only does Rutgers not score, not only do they not cross the 50 before the handshake line…Rutgers never crosses the Mississippi. They decided Saturday AM to get on the busses, head to the Lindbergh terminal and catch a flight back to Beautiful Piscataway.

If Rutgers can put up 28 on Iowa I think they can beat us, 27-24. So Hope I am wrong because of the gravity of the game.

Didn't watch the Rut Iowa game. How did Rut score that many against the vaunted Iowa DE

Gophers 31
Rutgers 18

Taylor gonna run and run some more. Ofc.
Taylor has a big game. Similar to the opener.

I felt that Minnesota had a better back 7 than Iowa but if Nestor is getting playing time that is probably not a good sign.

He was buried behind DBs that are backups for Iowa right now. Their starters got torched by Rutgers WRs.

It was similar to our game against Iowa last year, except Rutgers lit them up with a passing game for the enitre first half. It was 21 - 21 at half-time. Iowa returned the opening kick off for a TD, then both teams moved the ball pretty well.

After halftime, Rutgers couldn't do much offensively (Schiano went into the shell he taught PJ to love so much, even when they weren't winning). 3rd quarter was a bit of a stalemate as Iowa made ADJUSTMENTS at halftime and was able to leverage those adjustments and Schiano's lack of nerve into a better defensive performance (both teams missed FGs). Iowa began to wear them down in the 4th quarter with two sustained drives, the first for a Field Goal that Lit a fire under Schiano to go back to playing aggressively, retaking the lead after a long drive, only to see Iowa do the same and go back up by 3.

AK got picked off with around 5 minutes to go (the game was boring, so I'd turned it off; I didn't see the Pick), and Iowa sealed the win with a short drive for the final TD

True, Athan lit them up from the air in the first half but Iowa also gashed them on the ground in the first half. I did some stats at halftime while watching that game. Both were good on offense but Iowa averaged something like 6.7 yards per play and Rutgers had something like 6.1 yards per play in the first half.

Iowa's QB had a really good game (particularly for an Iowa QB). He didn't pass nearly as much as Athan but he was very efficient (10.3 yards per passing attempt) and was also pretty impressive using his legs.

Well, you have to include the quality of Rutgers' defense into your calculus too. Rutgers is second worst (to UCLA) in the Big Ten currently in average yards allowed per play (6.5). Iowa's offensive average per play for the season is 5.2 (second lowest in the Big to Wisconsin). They averaged 6.2 per play against Rutgers.

If DT plays and stays healthy Gophers 27-17
If he does not play or gets hurt Rutgers 21-17

I still think he’s our best player
