PP; Gophers will miss out on big 3

Kids don't build relationships with ADs, they build it with coaches...when all the coaches are fired, nothing is going to make a huge impact. Yes it was crappy that some disgruntled regent that liked Tubby or Maturi (whichever) decided to screw Teague by leaking Tubby's termination...but that is water under the damn now.

And truthfully, even if Teague would have went to each players dorm room and held their hands while this process was going on...it would still be 100% on the new coaching staff to win them over. As far as Ellis...not sure why he moved so quickly...my guess is his second choice called him every day to let him know how he was being mistreated...not with our new coach in place...lets see if we can win him back...that is if Coach P wants him back.

They didn't have to build a relationship, and it still would have been up to Coach Pitino to convince them to stay. That doesn't mean that Teague shouldn't have called Ellis and Foster and held a team meeting with the rest of the team to tell them about the coaching change. I think that sort of meeting is fairly common, maybe I'm wrong.

I can't believe the way so many people in the media and on here have ripped on Norwood. We really know nothing about what he has done these past 2 weeks except to fire Tubby (yeah) and hire Richard (yeah). We do NOT know who he offered. Just rumors. So take a chill pill and let this thing play out, please. If Pitino fails, fine, rip on Teague. If he suceeds, then let's all be happy

Promote the disgruntle regent I say, let the AD go and give the new coach a chance. For next season right now we have 10 scholarship players

I apologize if this wasn't in reference to my posts, but I've defended him on the leak and I think the Tubby firing was a good decision. I think it's too early to know for sure about the Pitino hire, but I'm optimistic. I only brought up one thing that I was disappointed about with Teague because I think it cost us a recruit. I don't think we should all have to approve of every one of his decisions.

sorry if some season ticket holders think college sports are about more than just winning.

Seriously? If you want sports that are more than just winning check out D2 or D3 college sports.

D1 is for big boys and girls. Winning and losing matters.

I'm coaching T-ball this weekend if the other poster wants to come by and watch; we aren't going to keep score

Tubby should've been sh-t canned last year. Why should we feel bad the way it was perceived to be handled? Tubby got a ton of dough, and he's getting a ton of dough at Texas Tech.

So law man speaks for the majority and Stan here tells me as a fan, a season ticket holder and a graduate I have to think like him... wow. >>In a town filled with Pro sports perhaps some people support college sports for many different reasons...

For revenue sports, your reasons are?

As Lombadi once said, "Winning isn't everything; it is the ONLY thing."

For revenue sports, your reasons are?
Jam >> It is not about me>> are you questioning the truth that people follow Gopher sports for many different reasons?... If it is all about money for you maybe you should just follow the Wolves or Vikings...

^^ thought Jamalo said winning....where did you pull money from? Seriously, are you high?

I don't think there's any chance Rashad and Tyus play with each other in college. There's probably some tension between them because Tyus is ranked higher and if they can't play on the same AAU team together I don't think they'll play with each other in college.

The tension would only be one way, Rashad to Tyus. I mean why would Tyus be upset that he is ranked higher than Rashad? And I've heard a lot of things about the big three, but I've never heard anything that would even suggest tension from Rashad to Tyus.

That sounds like one huge assumption. Also an irresponsible statement unless you have some definitive inside info.

You don't think there's jealousy there?

They are different players at different positions. I do not think there is jealousy nor do I think they would mind playing with each other. Tyus can get Rashad the ball in positions where he can score. I think Rashad is smart enough to relize that and willling to play with him because of that fact.

Source on Gopher Illustrated says there is zero chance Tyus and Rashad go to the same school. They are not close with each other, and neither wants to share the spot light with the other. If this is truly the case, I want Vaughn.

I suspect if either went to a blue blood school they would have to share the spot light.

Well, if they go to a "top" school, they'd be sharing the spotlight there with other top prospects.

EDIT: Haha, station is right there with me.

There is a huge difference in the Pioneer Press saying, Too Late for 'Big Three'? and your thread saying, PP; Gophers will miss out on Big 3.

Did you read the link? Pretty clear that Marcus thought it was late in the game to get the big three. I still think we get 2 of 3 but I am wrong often...

Glad you are thinking...

Jam wrote "For revenue sports, your reasons are?" Jam seems to be saying he only watches teams that make money, but you would have to ask him.

Holly Ellenson is the mother of Henry and Wally, who is a freshman guard with the Gophers. She was not happy the way Gophers athletics director Norwood Teague let the news of Tubby Smith's firing and Pitino's hiring get leaked through the media before telling the players.

"I feel like, the least the university can do is let the boys know what is going on," she said. "I haven't been pleased at all with that aspect of what has gone on.''

I agree with Ms. Ellenson. Say what you want about Tubby's firing and Pitino's hiring on the merits of the coaches involved, but Teague bumbled through this process.

The thing is, it feels like virtually every hiring and firing is leaked before the players know. It's just way too easy with Twitter and social media now. Probably the only way to avoid that would be to tell the players before something has actually been done, and that sounds like a bad idea IMO.
