Really, it's not just about having a "pure" point, it's about having guards who can handle the ball and put pressure on the defense. Right now, we have no one who can do that (Chip is the closest we have, but his ball handling is suspect). Even if we had Devoe, who is not a typical point, we would be in decent shape, as we saw last season. The reason our offense has whittled is not just because we don't have that prototypical point guard, but because we don't have anyone who can truly penetrate the defense and get shots for not only themselves but others as well. From what I've seen, it looks like both Hollins and Welch can do just that.
