PP; Gophers hoping to sign California junior college guard Julian Welch

Brooks visiting in early march...

Six-foot-8 215 pound senior power forward Henry Brooks has been targeted by Minnesota as one of their top spring recruits. Brooks has several high majors from all parts of the country following him and his Miller Grove High team closely. He's planned a weekend visit to Minneapolis for early March.

I wouldn't be at all shocked to see Mav get sent on down the road if we can get somebody to replace him. If we have any shot at Welch and Daniels, we've got to make some tough decisions. I'm absolutely against a coach attempting to force a kid to transfer, but I don't mind a coach coming to a kid and telling him "look, you're not going to play at all these next three years, and I'll do my best to help you find a program at which you're a better fit."

wow, sweet post........ you haven't seen nearly half of that roster play in the college game before. kind of quick to assume Andre, Joe, Oto, or any of the other newcomers won't be solid contributors, don't you think?! Looks like a better lineup than we're throwing on the court now, if anything we'll have more depth. Take a look at the other B10 teams and who they are losing. We'll be fine.

First, I hope it would be better than the rotation we are throwing out there right now! The team RIGHT NOW without the three lost players is about as bad as we've had in awhile. Second, this team needs impact players...not "contributors" in my opinion. Andre excites me for sure but I don't expect him to work wonders as a freshman and turn the whole team around right away.

You could always just start cheering for a different team. Maybe the moniker RedBadger isn't taken yet over on the Wisconsin board.

I just love the BS patchwork job Tubby does. One 4 star kid in the last two years! Let's look at the facts...this Welch kid is considering Kent frickin State and Minnesota. SOUNDS LIKE MAV, CONSIDERED THE GOPHERS AND BOISE. Bravo Tubby...bravo.

Also UNLV, Utah, and others out West.

Is that a typo? (j/k)

1st class: Devoe and Sampson 4*s
2nd class: Royce and Rodney 5* and 4*, Trevor essentially a 4* but not technically because of JUCO status
3rd class: Walker close to being 4*, Chip and Hollins ain't bad, and we still have 2 players to see
4th class: Hollins is a 4*, Coleman is very close

So, he's brought in a 5*, 4 4*s but 7 if you count Trevor, Walker, and Coleman. Obviously not all have played, but he's certainly brought in highly-rated players. What should you bitch about now?

Hahah, I always find it funny when people say things like "He was close to being a 4 star." Bottom line, Coleman, Walker, Chip, Mav and Austin Hollins were/are not 4 star talent. Accept it. And Tubby's player evaluation skills have taken a serious hit lately (Rodney, Colton, Maverick and Sampson to some extent). Outside of Mbakwe, Tubby Smith has not signed an impact player.

I love your narrow-minded hatred for the Badgers. It's completely unfounded. We should respect Wisconsin's athletic department. In major sports, UW is far ahead of Minnesota.

How did you get a "narrow-minded hatred for the Badgers" out of what I wrote? All I posted was you could try cheering for a different team and suggested the Badgers as a possibility since they are probably your favorite team already. By the way, it's normal for a Gopher fan to dislike the Badgers to an extent. They are the team's biggest rival. It's pretty simple. Just like it is normal for a Badger fan to dislike the Gophers, which you consistently prove with every post you make.

Leave. Now.

Stop saying "we". Unless you are talking about your beloved red weasels from across the river.

They are CARDINAL weasels from across the river:

School Colors / Cardinal and White / UW-Madison

From Wisconsin Week, "Who Knew?" February 24, 1999

Q. A 9-year-old "big Badger fan" asks: When did UW-Madison adopt cardinal and white as the school colors?

A. Smart kid. He knows not to call UW-Madison's colors "red and white," but "cardinal and white." He also poses a question with no easy answer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cardinal and white were "generally accepted in the 1880s as the school colors," says Arthur Hove, a historian of UW-Madison. The cardinal - or red - may have been around even longer since the Badgers briefly considered a tiger or a cardinal for team names. Although the badger became the team mascot, the color cardinal remained.

The Daily Cardinal, UW's first student newspaper, was established in 1892, which implies that at least the color cardinal was associated with the university by then. Cardinal is the main color, according to Hove; white is a color used for accent. In today's flashier sports world, coaches have dressed up some uniforms with a dash of black, also considered an accent color,he says.
