Post Game Thread: Gophers Crush NW St

If NW St just takes a knee on every offensive play in the 1st half it’s only 35-0 or so.

Fun to see a lot of the young guys getting playing time.

Just hope Taylor being out was just a precaution. Glad the defense didn't take NSU lightly

Now if only we can play half as good as that, we should be fine rest of the season.👍

I was glad that Fleck played the B and C squad before halftime. Unfortunately two important guys went down. Let's hope they aren't injured. I swear in the past, Fleck would play the starters all day....this is an improvement. We've also improved on special teams since he got rid of our first special teams coach who was at Minnesota way longer than he deserved to be.

When you play helpless teams like that injuries are inevitable. The other team can't put forth the effort to make our players compete against full speed competition. The score looks nice, but would rather not schedule teams like this.

How do they get the name Northwestern State? They are not located in the North nor Northwest.

Here's the current lightning tracker...

Told Mrs. Billd that I wouldn't be surprised if the AD slipped the weather officials a Benjamin to say there was lightning...it was time for this one to be over. Risk of injuries off the charts...

We left early and there was definitely lightning on our drive back to the NW.

Looking at the game stats, I noticed that Jalen Smith had no receptions. Did he play today? Lindsay’s only incompletion was targeted at Loya, I believe.

Was at the game. No disrespect to Northwestern State, but I legitimately think a top level DII team from the NSIC, MIAA or the GLIAC team could compete with them. Gophers dominated just about every way.

Lightning must have been quite a distance because I didn't hear thunder or see any flash. At most it just rained a bit at the start of the fourth quarter but it was avoidable so I stayed until the game was called.

Happy to be 2-0! Hopefully no serious injury to DT.

What’s the story on injuries?
Smith and Taylor hurt.

If hamstring it’s hard to let Taylor play again before the bye, this early in season.

Not sure what Smith hurt.

76 kids played and 9 different players scored.

Been a while since we've had a true blow-out. Ok with it. Bama schedules Mercer every other year, it seems, and all the SEC teams have their sacrificial lambs. Look at Indiana's noncon. Lots of players got to play.
Anyway, let's beat Cal.

Really difficult to tell from the level of competition, but Ijehoi looked good. Didn't see the second half, but looking at the box score it was good to see how many guys got into the game.

These games have been scheduled for decades. They serve a purpose even if people disagree with the purpose.

I believe we missed our first tackle of the season with 30 seconds left in first half.
