per the article:

During the Gophers' 51-49 loss to Illinois in the Big Ten tournament opener Thursday, March 14, he took to Twitter to share his emotions and insights. Here, in order, are the tweets from @Flip_Saunders -- some unsolicited, some in response to questions on Twitter:

"Gophers if were going to put ball in post, feeders have to get below free throw line extended to lead post into shot."

"We need penetration and to play below free throw line too much passing and no penetrating cuts or dribbles."

"Gophers have to grind cuz illini can implode. We need to make easy plays and be aggressive on offensive cuts were walking."

"I've seen more between these teams than there are at lunds bakery."

"I believe were listening so much that were in NCAA that there is not a sense of urgency. Gophs" Lets take of business."

"@atrupar I ment I've seen more turnovers from these teams than are at lunds bakery."

"My tweets might be little erratic but like most Goph fans a little frustrated and venting. But better 2nd half for us."

"@AlexanderMcD10 said all season Turnovers lead to bad defense and opponents easy scores and destroys confidence. That's where we are."

"15 Turnovers!
Nothing more to be said."

"Splash Splash were back in it!"

"@JCalverley yep looking good playing with confidence."

"Just got to airport heading to ESPN and saw last 10 seconds. I'm sick! Guess fitting TO is key down stretch."

"@JCalverley as a Coach I hate Turnovers as much as anything. It is beating urself. My Piston team set NBA record for fewest to"s."

Go Gophers!!

I'll take Flip over Tubby. He obviously cares.

I think a young up and comer (like Shaka) would be great so we could have them for a long time. However if we can't get one of those young options, Flip would be a good choice.

I don't know if I've ever seen a more blatant example of auditioning for a job. I love Flip, but that barrage was almost shameless.

So what? I would love to see Flip as coach if he brought this kind of passion.

Personally I think flip is the choice. IMO he wants the job and would be willing to do it cheaper than a big name like Shaka, which is essential after the buyout and the needs of a practice facility. If flip takes the job and elevates us it could become a destination job. It's going to take a national title for tubby to be back. I like tubby, I never will know what happened behind closed doors unlike the many that state things as if it is fact, but its tubbys program and he has to deal with the consequences. I wish him the best in the NCAA tourney, I won't be a dbag and cheer against the gophers.

I don't think Flip's the answer but I'd take him in a heartbeat because he obviously cares & has a clue.

Flip loves the U. He has maroon and gold running in his veins. It would be nice to see that passion in our head coach.

No argument. Just saying I was a little taken aback.

Anyone that thinks Shaka is truely interested in the Gopher job is delusional. Flip knows basketball inside an out. He is an offense basketball genius and he could turn our offensive woes around. Any coach can teach good defense. Good coaches are needed to coach offense. A good coach will make offensive and defensive adjustments during the game. More than anything he CARES. I truely think he would work hard and get assistants coaches that care about the university of Minnesota (Quincy, Trent, his son or Minnesota guys). Not only is Flip a far superior coach to Tubby, but I KNOW he will bring in a much more capable coaching and recruiting staff!

I am not sold that Shaka is interested in this job in any way. The only connection would be Teague.

But i agree that it is clear that Flip wants it and I think he would work his ass off for the program.

Hard not to question what you know... Your reasoning aside, I think we should hire Flip if he'll take the job (appears he would).

I bet Flip would recruit and sign a quality, true point guard. That would be good :)

Watch the Lakers (or any team Mike D'Antoni has coached) in action and tell me any coach can teach defense haha

D'Antoni isn't great, but often his teams look worse on defense due to tempo.

Now luckily he didn't say any coach can teach offense or we'd be stuck watching Mike Brown highlights.

I can't see Shaka or Stevens(or any other name coach) coming here, especially with no immediate plans for practice facility.

Flip would probably take the job for less money than those two and would garner more donor support than anyone else.

I posted this a couple weeks ago so rather than bump the thread and ignite the pissing and moaning, I'll just copy/paste what I wrote and it is still my belief.

My opinion:

I think Flip would be an excellent short term answer. I think he would immediately reinvigorate the fan base and get some optimism around this program once again. I'm not sure about recruiting over the long haul but I think he would have a step up on Tubby short term for our big three. They are all old enough to remember Flip during the Wolves "glory days" but young enough to where this likely occurred around the time they fell in love with basketball. Flip has NBA pedigree, a love and loyalty to the university, and is charismatic enough to spin situations how he wants to in order to sell the university to recruits.

I question how long he would want to do it, but it is my belief that if we landed 2 or (gasp) even 3 of our top recruits that would instantly elevate the program to a standard so that when Flip does retire we would get a higher level replacement for him. If Tubby retired following the season and Flip didn't get the job I'm just not sure we could expect even a top level up and comer to come here.

I would love to have Flip. I think not enough can be said about a coach who wants to be here and who knows the area well.

Flip is tempting because we don't have to give him 6 years, IMO. We'll know in 2-3 if it's working or not. You have to take Shaka or Stevens if they'd come, but the Greg Marshall's and Chris Mack's of the world will still be there in 3 years.

Was against Flip for awhile but I like the idea of him as a short to medium term answer.

6-8 years to get people caring about the program more, get a practice facility built, renovate Williams and hopefully leave the program in a much better place than when he got it.

Get the program over those humps and pass the torch to a younger up and comer when this is a more attractive job.

If it is Flip, I would hope he hires a band of young, hungry assistants. One who would be able to take over when Flip retires.

I'm totally for Flip - brings some Musselman magic to the barn and pro experience to throw into the face of recruits. Add Tucker and Q Lewis to the staff for a younger and reinvigorated crew...
