Picture of missed hold on last Iowa TD run

Iowa had a hold call on it's TE on the first Iowa offensive series that was a complete head scratcher. The Gophers also had holds that were let go. KJ Maye's long catch in the first half Iowa's #67 beats his guy and gets held. It happens. To say it was one sided in this game is not the case.

Wasn't it 12 penalties to 4? Sounds kind of one-sided. Not going to rehash here, but as many others have cited there is plenty of evidence of blatant, costly missed calls against the Gophers.

No offense, but that's not a very intelligent way to look at it. For example, Minnesota kicking the ball out of bounds on the onside kick was a penalty. Leidner had a blatant intentional grounding penalty to avoid what would have been a sack. They also had multiple false start penalties which tends to happen on the road and I don't think Iowa had any. If you want to talk individual calls, we can do that and I won't disagree that #52 for Iowa got away with a couple of holds, but the Gophers did to.

If only there were statistics we could review to see if penalty calls were roughly equal.

If you think penalty calls should be equal for a game to be fair I can see your problem. Minnesota had two off sides penalties on kick offs alone. They also had two false start penalties and Iowa didn't have any. The obvious Leidner intentional grounding. They clearly should have been called for more penalties. That shouldn't be up for debate.

Time for you to leave. Go back to Hawkeye land. We do it again next year. You have a site call Hawkeye Nation.

No, I don't think penalties should be even. You're right, we had 4 penalties that were completely self inflicted. Now it's 8-4. Had I not seen blatant holding calls on your LT not called, while we had questionable holding calls in critical situations, I wouldn't complain.

Did some surfing at the Rivals Michgan and PSU sites and they also had a thread about the game/ questionable calls. I only post this to state that Gopher fans were not alone in questioning some of the calls.

Personally I think we lost for more reasons than questionable calls. Iowa beat us. Good luck to them the rest of the way. I'll look forward to my Gophers having the opportunity to rescue Floyd next fall.

I'm ready to move on to the Illini.
