Can someone with computer skills put this shot along side of the "holding" by Lingren on the 4th and 1?

Thought I might have seen Poock getting held on that play. Can this be the official "missed Iowa holding calls" thread?

I was going to start the same thread. image.jpg

They held on almost every play.

The refs were bad. The D still had plenty of chances to stop Iowa. They didn't. That's why the Gophers lost. Not the refs.

all game. You can't win when the refs control a game like that

I can't help but laugh at the blatant cheating the refs did today... how can you not see that bear hug?

There's plenty more, I wish I would have recorded the damn game, I would get every holding shot I could and blast it all over twitter.

Here is my laugh:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA REFS HAHAHAHAHHAHA B10 REFS AHAHAHAHA

It's not either or. This was as bad of officiating as I've seen in a long time.

That is the standard reply, but I call BS. It would have been nice to make Iowa block by the rules.

You can't even say that because that's like saying... "hey you lost cause you can't stop them, never mind that they got unlimited tries because of those non-calls"

The Gophers couldn't stop Iowa's two first down's on their last series when they knew Iowa was going to run. There were no missed holding calls there until the TD run. There was 5 min left. The Gophers just had to hold them to 1 three and out and couldn't. That was the theme of the night.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that it can be both? Iowa is a better football team than us and they got all the calls.

By them getting all the calls gives them the advantage, and does not make them a better a team. we played even despite being in a hole.

Ok. My point was it can be both. Iowa opened up some holes with and without holding.

Anyone keep B1G Network on long enough to hear the post game interview with the Iowa running back? He was asked about the holes that were opened up for him and, if I heard him correctly, he said something along the lines of "when they can hold like that...". I'm sure he meant when they can hold blocks like they did, but I thought I'd add to the conspiracy talks.

A skeptic would say "follow the money".

We have never had a league commissioner like Delaney, who has been willing to throw tradition aside for
the almighty dollar quite to the degree he has. I think we all agree on that. That said, given that, one
can only surmise that it would be far more financially beneficial if certain teams continue to win, financially.
The worst day of his life would be a day when Minnesota beats Iowa, Illinois beat Ohio State, and Indiana
beats Michigan today. There would be meltdown. The potential dollars lost would be immense.

And who do the refs work for?

I would love for someone to show me when a ref didn't call a holding that was that obvious for the Gophers.

Ok but let's say for instance they actually called holding on a couple of the plays when Iowa started at their 3 yard line... being pinned back near the endzone, i'm sure their play calling would have changed and thus could have negated the whole drive. That was 7 points. How many did we lose by? How about that blatant bear hug above? We don't know if they would have scored or not, so that's another 7 points that may or may not have gone on the score board. So really, you can't say we put any value in how the defense played when had those holding calls been called, we may have kept them from scoring in a couple of drives.

I agree there were a couple calls early that could have changed the course of the game.

I'm mad at Claeys for not working those officials more on the sidelines. He needs to do that.

Who has computer skills? Post a side by side picture of the Lingen hold and this picture! I need a new facebook profile picture!

From Buckyville:

"If they continue to let the left tackle hold the right DE, Iowa is going to win this one easily."

"That was an extremely weak holding call on the 4th down play against Minnesota. Especially considering the stuff Iowa has gotten away with."

"And then Iowa runs into the kicker but they pick the flag up because he briefly brushed against a blocker?"

"Refs missed a blatant hold on Iowa on the TD run. Olineman wrapped his arms entirely around the linebacker creating the huge hole."

Even Wisconsin fans think we got screwed. Granted they probably hate Iowa almost as much as they hate us. They seem to hate a lot of things over there.

Refs missed a ton of holding calls on the Gophers tonight too. You could call a hold on damn near every play if the refs wanted. Just a bunch of sour grapes in this thread.

If you can't understand the difference between questionable holding and what was shown in this thread, then I don't know what to tell you. That was as blatant as it comes and, no, holdings like that do not happen on damn near every play.

This wasn't called all while a flag was thrown on us on a critical 4th and 1 when the offensive player had his hands in between the numbers. If they are going to throw a flag on that play, then they have to throw it on every play of the game because that was a good block.
