Other Games Thread - Week 5

Really like Franklin going for it on 4th and inches on your own 30. More teams should do it.

76 yards of TO for Becky with five minutes to go 1st half. MGIII really struggling.

Gordon is overrated IMO. He's so hit and miss. I don't have the numbers to back it up but it seems like most of his big games come against weaker competition. Abdullah is easily the best RB in the conference.

No argument here.

I'm not sure I would go for it there but I have never understood why so many teams punt when they're inside the opponents' 45 yard line. Northwestern had it 4th and 7 at the 37. They ended up kicking into the end zone and only gaining 17 yards. Even if they pin them at the 10 or so, that still isn't worth giving up a possession in my opinion.

As I type this, Gordon fumbles near the end zone. Gonna be 3-3 going into the half.

Agreed. I like coaches who take all of that into consideration. See: Derrick Engel's TD last year against Nebraska and Kill's/Claeys's decision to go for it in that situation.

Incredible home cooking' at Ped St when NU strips a caught ball and takes it to the house for TD. Refs see it otherwise.

I'm not sure I'd say he is overrated. He's just one dimensional. But that one dimension (his speed) is probably the best in the country. If the defense stays in their gaps and don't allow him to get to the second level, he will struggle. He's not a guy that will grind out tough yards or carry the pile for an extra 2-3 yards.

I agree though, Abdullah is the best back in the conference.

Fitzgerald cost his team 6 points in the first half IMO. First the fake field goal call, then going after the punt resulting in a roughing the punter and Penn State marches down and kicks a field goal before half. Should be 17-0, instead it's 14-3.

I don't think there was possession on that play. I think they got it right.

Well, South Florida's defense played well for a half anyways.

Are you kidding me? The WR took 6 steps with the ball on his shoulder and only when the DB tried the 2nd time to strip the ball did it come out. The ref right on the play called fumble/TD. Even Penn St posters are admitting it was a fumble.

They'll probably pull out the win today, but you're right, they are not very good.

I've never understood the love for Iowa coming into this year.

Moreso to do with the favorable schedule than anything else.

That being said, I figured going INTO the season that the Iowa and Illinois games would determine the success of the Gophers' season; almost must-win games, and to me that hasn't changed.

Looks like someone got seriously hurt for Northwestern. Didn't see what happened though.

Helmet-to-helmet hit from Hackenberg to the NW defender. I think it caught him by surprise and his neck bent back a little. He was giving the thumbs up on the cart so hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Hackenberg lowered his head and hit Mathew Harris in the head. No flag. Hartis gives thumbs up as he is carted off. Hackenberg throws pick 6 on nrxt series. Justice. NU 20 OSU 6.

Boom goes Penn St and their undefeated record. The west is best baby.

PSU is toast. This makes today EXTREMELY important for both teams now in terms of the divisional race

Indiana's offense hasn't looked that great so far this year.

500 yards vs. Missouri seems okay.

Don't get me wrong, their offense is still good, they just aren't scoring points like they did last year. I'm just a little surprised, that's all.

Their kicker just kicked a 58 yard FG.

23 incompletions for Hackenberg today. Not sure we have that many all year.

NU 29 PSU 6. Complete domination in every phase of the game. NU will not be pushover.
