I know these are the most sexy names and I guess I am honestly trying to move focus of the conversation to some "underdog" candidates. I think there are lots of great coaches out there.

I can't agree with these...DII guys who have just moved to FCS with little HC experience? Why do we need an underdog?

From Pitt? Id say that's an easier answer than one cynic would think..
Minnesota has their own stadium, big ten school, big ten money, new shiny facilities en-route.

When you're a Big Ten school and you have the opportunity to hire a guy who was a HS coach four years ago, you've gotta do it.
 

Why not hire from within?

Brian Anderson is the wide receivers coach.... that worked out for Clemson.
 


Man, what is with Arkansas St. and their AD. They just keep hiring very good coaches. Hugh Freeze, Gus Malzahn, Bryan Harsin. Wonder what will happen to this Blake Anderson guy? Not sure he would be a good fit for MN, but interesting to keep an eye on.
