***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA SENIOR NIGHT (JOHNSON'S LAST HOME GAME?) IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Stan, An appropriate storyline for tonight would be to see Mark Coyle seated right behind the team witnessing what his decision has wrought - a near-capacity crowd comprised of 2/3 the fans cheering for the Visiting Team. Never will we have seen such an indignity in Williams Arena, nor a more indicting statement of the job his office is responsible for.
I think the kick in the balls and Ohio St. fight was far more indignant. Just saying.

Hard to explain how peaceful I feel going into this game. Actually think it will be a highly competitive contest because MN has learned to front the low post (ie. Dick Bennett) so unlike last time, that pass will be highly contested by Frank the Tank et al.
Mike Mitchell has been twitchy as ever, not defending and earned a benching, but will come in and contribute double digits. The red team takes nearly half their shots from beyond the arc, and that can be temperamental. Garcia will be single teamed until within 8 feet and play like a man on a mission. Patterson will get behind the defense to distribute as he does at his best.
There are a few guys in the Big Ten that annoy consistently (Grayson Allen list) and the red team inevitably has one. Klesmit is the Davison for them this year. There will likely be a couple F1 fouls this game. Will calmly watch as it will be entertaining to see the Ax displayed (?) and a win in the Barn.

You would have hated the Minnesota-Iowa games from about 1986-1989 when there were about 5000 Hawkeye fans a game at the Barn. The second deck sections behind the baskets were almost 100% Iowa fans. Beating them with the Jimmy Williams’ Iron Five in 1986 and the Shik tip-in in 1989 was all the sweeter. Gopher fans started buying single game tickets again in large numbers after the ‘89 Sweet 16 run which kept the Iowa fans mostly away.

You wanna know how low this program has sunk?

This is post 51 in a Wisconsin-Gopher senior night game thread.

Fifty. One.

Even us fanboys on a dedicated Gopher site can't be bothered to give a shit.
