That is an interesting scenario.....one possession game so I guess I could see playing D in the backcourt and then fouling if they got across the timeline. Even if you wait to foul there are still 20-25 seconds left once you foul.

If you foul right away there is a very good chance the 3 point deficit is going to go to 4 or 5

Props to them for being aware enough to get the timeout at 9 seconds to kill clock and avoid the turnover.

Yeah, I don't know if there's a right or wrong answer to this, but I do believe Washington had a plan and executed it successfully, and the Gophers played right into it.

Explain to those of us not as basketball savvy as you...how is it that fouling right away means the 3 pt deficit is going to 4 or 5, but waiting to foul until doesnt?
