Wolitarsky is an interesting prospect. 6'3" 210 lbs. and he has some wheels.

According to what I have read about Wolitarsky he not only has wheels but he has great hands as well. Get him signed up Killer!!

Interesting that we have 4 WR prospects coming on visits in Jones, Wolitarsky, Jarmon and Carter and only 1 RB so far.

I think a big part of that is because our WRs this year probably won't RS. I'm guessing either R. Williams or Maye (or both) RS this season, so despite landing two good WRs, the WR position will again be a position of need in this recruiting class. Hopefully we can RS 1 or 2 of them too.

Is this the kid that's like the leading receiver in the history of California or something like that?

I believe so, I can't recall exact stats but he has racked up a crazy number of receptions/yards and is very near or at the top for receivers from California, all time. I am not sure about the type of competition he plays against but regardless he sounds like the real deal. He has a solid offer list but does not seem to be getting the attention (yet anyway) from the upper tier programs.

Hopefully we can get more quality linebackers and secondary players to visit. We're pretty shallow in terms of depth and youth at linebacker and corner.

I thought the same thing, 4 WRs in a small class seems like a lot. Chances are we only need 2, so maybe they are looking at some of them as a future DB?

Agreed. I know that they are working hard on Jonathan Cook a CB from AL who has been rising quickly receiving an offer from Nebraska recently. They are also working on Tyler Foreman a S from CA (long shot) with offers from UCLA and Oklahoma to name a few.

I would like to see visits from these LB's: Jeremy Benjamin ILB (FL), Reggie Spearman OLB (IL), Rayfield Dixon OLB (FL) and Duke Riley OLB (LA).

I actually think we will have more youth depth at LB and DB than we do at WR next season.

We were able to RS Westerhaus, Bauducco, Matilus last year, and it seems like we should be able to RS Rallis, Anwualu (assuming he moves to LB), and Lynn this year.

DB is a little thinner but we were able to RS Montgomery and Murray and now we should be able to RS a couple guys this year (Travis and Johnson).

At WR, we nabbed McDonald and Harbison this season, but they will most likely play right away.

There's been talking that Bauducco was moved to d-line, though it's hard to tell since he isn't practicing anyway. Nonetheless, four underclassmen isn't bad, but none of those guys stand out to me like McDonald and Harbison do as great talents (though I like Matilus a lot).

By the looks of things, only one of those guys (Murray) is a corner, which is more where I was focusing.

Not all underclassmen are created equal. Also, DCT, Marcus Jones, and Freucthe are all sophmores, which gives us 3 years of all five of those guys on the team, assuming all goes well.

Just added David Yancey, a RB out of Indiana who is currently a Purdue commit.

is it normal to have other teams commit's come to visit? I hope its not a waste of time. just curious, fill me in folks.

It happens occasionally, last year we hosted a player (name escapes me) who was a WV commit. I believe there were 1-2 more. Sometimes it's because a player is looking to make a move, and other times a guy just wants to make sure he's made the right choice. Bottom line, if a recruit is serious enough to come to your school on an OV, the chance of landing him goes up considerably.

I don't think linebacker is that well set for next season. Matilus is a good athlete, and aggressive, but not very tall. Bauducco practiced at DE all spring, I don't think he fits the staff's linebacker profile from a speed perspective. That leaves Beal, Lynn, Edwards, Manuel, N Rallis, and walk-ons Schultz and Balthazor who may turn out to be players. I like Wipson, but expecting him to come in and play immediately is not a sure thing, maybe not even a good thing.. Some of the walk-on DBs such as Dicke are good sized kids who might outgrow the DB position and can run, but you can't project them there yet. Beal is the only guy who projects to fit the MLB spot from a speed and size perspective.
So we have 4-5 guys who project to play next season and this staff wil definitely want 6 or more. l would not be surprised to see a JUCO MLB. to keep balancing classes and fill a short term hole.

I've heard Westerhaus may be an option at MLB if he can put on some weight. I could be wrong, but I really don't see us adding JUCOs to this class unless the staff determines there is a desperate need at a spot for next year. For a recruiting class that's going to be around 12, we need all the freshmen we can get.

Interesting that we have 2 backs (Edwards and Yancey) both scheduled for the same weekend. I didn't think there was any chance we'd take 2 backs in this class given that everyone on the team is an underclassmen except Gillum, it's a small class, and hopefully Jeff Jones is waiting in the wings for 2014.

Edwards would be a perfect fit for Limegrover's O, just a fantastic fit.
Honestly if Cal slides this year and Iowa takes a step back as I expect them to we should have a good chance barring a late offer by ND or Michigan or someone.
Here's to hoping he looks up the NIU highlights from 2 years ago and realizes a back with his style could be LaMicheal James-esque in a Limegrover/Kill O.

Kill mentioned that we need to get a big athletic TE. Any of those on the radar?

From his last presser: "We certainly in the recruiting process right now, that's a big priority for us is finding that athletic tight end. "

Nate Wozniak has an offer, but he's HUGE, so not really in the athletic mold (don't think we're in the conversation anyway).

Aaron Batten (6'4" 218lbs) out of the Miami area definitely fits that mold much more and we're currently in his top three with Connecticut and Duke.

Another two guys without offers but are on the radar are Troy Fumagalli from Chicago, who has camped here, and Cethan Carter out of New Orleans.

I think we would like to take two backs. Most of our top backs will be senior and juniors next year, so we'll need young depth.

On the other hand, Yancy could be a prospect at a # of positions.

I would be ecstatic to see Edwards in maroon and gold. I'm thrilled he's considering us. Cal could be in for a tough year given their game one struggles, so if the Gophs can put together a strong early season, we will be in good sitting. Iowa is in the mix too. But it's Iowa, so there's that. Edwards would pair greatly with a bruiser like Harold Atkinson - if there's room for two backs.

I am also very interested in what we do at LB and DL. I like our LBs next year with Manuel and Edwards on the outside, and Beal in the middle. I don't know who else we're hard after at LB now that Wipson has signed. On the DL, I think the younger Ekpe and Peppers would round out our pull, with Hinojosa already coming on board.

I like the aggressiveness of WR recruiting, and am hopeful we can pull 1-2 of Jarmon, Carter, Wolitarsky. I do not know if we'll take a TE in this class if the coaches are high on Williams and Plsek backing up Goodger.

Edwards, Atkinson, Wolitarsky, Jarmon, or Carter would all be really nice gets.
I hope Tedric Thompson and Henrick Ekpe follow their brothers here too, both seem like good players.

At LB I think we're set for next years' starters, but behind them I could see Nick Rallis and Jack Lynn playing early next year. Lynn's got a really great frame to fill out eventually, he's going to be a great looking athlete.
We'll see on Westerhaus and Matilus, they hopefully get some PT this year. I've got to wonder if Antonio Johnson or Damarus Travis follow Manuel to LB.

We also have Salzwedel committed, so that would put us at 4 D-linemen, problably 2 DEs (Salzwedel, Ekpe) and 2 DTs (Hinojosa, Peppers). Looks like this is what the staff is after.

Ole, your comment made me think about how many brother combos Kill has gone after in a short period of time (Thompson, Ekpe, Mayes). I wonder if this is by design to help w/ recruiting.

I'm sure. Brewster did it too. The McAvoy twins, olsons(although there was little doubt), a few more I think.

That Connor Mayes is a monster interior lineman, if we can hook him next year we are going to be stockpiling some pretty impressive OL.

And of course, Jeff Jones may end up being Kill's version of Brewsters' Micheal Floyd.
If Kill can get Jones to commit, he could be the hometown "special" athlete that finally stays and makes this thing all work.

The four names to watch are Rayfield Dixon, Jeremy Benjamin, Martell Spraight, and Antonio Longino. Spraight and Longino are both J.C.'s and while I agree that with the limited #s we shouldn't be looking at too many J.C. guys, linebacker (and maybe TE) are areas where you can make the case. Hill, Manuel, Edwards, and Beal appear to make a solid 4, but we can't seriously rely on Beal, and the rest are equally unproven.

Dixon has us in his top 4. Benjamin and Longino appear to be leaning elsewhere. Spraight said he's pretty wide open.
