***OFFICIAL PENN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

They were well past that point due to the non con Ben put together. But yes now it’s officially win the btt or you’re done for any preseason play

Any postseason play? I think not but, yes, they will have to do better in the remainder of the regular season and the Big Ten tournament than they did today for ANY postseason play.

I’m not counting the btt, but yeah they’re not making an invitational unless I guess they win them all but the bt final.

Caveat, I will be 0% surprised if we decline an invite and fire Ben postseason

I don’t think I saw the gophers change up the defense all day. And let the high pick beat them all day. Did I miss anything.

This collective of players are an offensive challenge. You can not put Dawson in a pick and roll because they will automatically double him hard. He is getting 2, 3 players running at him every time he touches the ball. The post players don't threaten the defense at the rim. So any rim rolls are not a consistent score. And we are reluctant to throw it in to a big on a postup. Our perimeter players are inconsistent with shooting. Mitchell has been a disappointment as a 5th year senior, Grigsby had a moment at PSU, but yesterday hardly played which tells you something. Patterson brings you more of an old school game inside the arc. I don't get why they give Caleb Williams a scholarship, but never play him when outside shooting has been an issue all year. And now they are down to playing 7 guys, no Betts, no Edmonds, and no Grigsby. If they keep the score in the 60's they have got a chance anything above 60 no chance. Tough to win with that formula.

Grigsby really should get more minutes. The hole really sleeping on Grigsby.

Yes, but I can see why. Frank Mitchell has his moments but he has bad hands and he's limited in his mobility to stretch (or go low) for a pass reception. Any pass that goes in there is just as likely to end up in the hands of a defender.

I agree with what you said about Betts and Edmonds. If they can play Rigsby who does next to nothing most of the time he's in the game, I don't see why they can't try one or both of them.

The refusal to play Edmonds when you're getting dominated inside makes no sense. And I can't see why Betts wouldn't transfer after the season regardless of who the coach is.

If I'm Betts I hold onto that scholarship with both hands. I don't like my chances of getting another one.

Betts mighta been a Ben boner. You can’t miss on scholarships when you are where MN is.

Betts played in a clean up role against Illinois if I remember correctly and drilled 2 from the arc.

He is physically big enough to be a contributor but needs some court time. Watch him in warm ups and he makes as many as anyone else. He needs court time to prove whether or not he can contribute.
