***OFFICIAL NORTH TEXAS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The Gophers started 3 guards tonight that wouldn't even get minutes on most good high-major teams in Patterson, Rigsby, and Odukale. You can take one look at them and see they aren't B1G level players.

And Ben Johnson's half court offensive sets are fireable.
I feel calling them offensive sets is being a bit generous. It kinda looks like abstract art.

The offensive flow between the two teams says enough. North Texas got what they wanted on almost every play. We’re lucky we didn’t lose by 20.
There’s zero offensive flow. Going to be a long year; but, hopefully it results in a new coach. I wanted Ben to do well but it’s time.

I’m not sold on these transfers.
-Odukale can't dribble, take care of the ball, or hit the broad side of a barn
-Patterson is far too slow, short, and unathletic to get any separation to score efficiently at the B1G level
-And Rigsby is 5-21 FG on the year and also doesn't look like he has good handles or explosiveness to be any kind of shot creator on a stagnant offense

Who would've thunk Edmonds would be the only decent looking transfer going into the season??

North Texas remains undefeated. They were quick.
But, Caleb Williams is out with mono...so we were not at full strength.
And Mike Mitchell and Betts too?

I'll watch some Colorado State games this year so I can get familiar with our new coach for next year.

This program is in such a sad state of affair. Shame really and honestly no one at the university really seems to care.

For the record, I think (likely we all think) Ben needs to be gone at the end of the season. But for whatever new coach we get, collectives, businesses, and donors: please please give him better NIL funding to work with because it'd take a miracle coaching job to put together a tournament team here absent of some better NIL. Even 300-400k more a year to work with makes a giant difference.

Betts was a healthy DNP as far as I know. But Ben is amazed with him in practice. Believe me.

Gray Duck Vodka is really good for anyone who hasn't tried it yet. The team is going to suck, so let's just all tie one on and try to pump up the NIL collective!

If Fleck had Ben's record, Ruesse would be writing an article a week on how bad a coach and human being he was.

Normally similar to a bracket buster, but I am guessing if these two were in a first round brack pair more people would have picked the Mean Green. Until Ben learns to fast break, we are going to have zero offense. 0 fast break points again tonight. If teams can get set, it likely be a long season unless we amp up the 3 PT shooting percentage.

Turnovers: Gophers 13 Mean Green 8
Pts off turnovers: Gophers 4 Mean Green 18
Steals: Gophers 1 Mean Green 7

Fast Break PTS: Gophers 0 Mean Green 9
Points in the Paint: Gophers 16 Mean Green 28...Mean Green tallest player that played was 6'9"

All gopher players seemed frustrated and no energy. Mean Green were ready and hungry and deserved the W.

I'm not Coyle's biggest fan, but I'll never believe Ben was his first choice. Now it's just a matter of whether he gives a damn about men's basketball or not.
At this point, I have a hard time believing we can hire an established coach with a winning tradition. Think we will have to take a flyer on a lower division coach who has shown ability to win, recruit and play a brand of bb that is fun to watch.

How Ben thinks it is a good idea for Odukale to bring the ball up and initiate the offense is beyond me. That's nuts.

Patterson looks to be a less savvy version of Taurus Samuels.

Ben has to let Asuma run the offense, he is the only kid with enough quickness and ability to do it. Let him learn and make some mistakes.

This is a horrid team. They play hard on defense but they just don't have a lot of high D1 ability. I feel sorry for Garcia, he is going to get mugged the whole year.

How on earth did these coaches think they could go out and recruit a team this slow and have them compete in the Big Ten.

Odukale should only be on the floor if it is a offense for defense situation.

My level of “don’t care anymore” is climbing rapidly. My how our expectations have sunk.
Probably 3000 people there tonight. The don't care level was so bad that after scoring 3 baskets against NORTH TEXAS in the first half no one booed the effort.
