***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS PURDUE IN-GAME THREAD***

Moral victories? No. But, the kids seem to be improving.

I just was able to catch the last 9 minutes of the game because of class. I saw that King sat out most, if not all of that time. Was he sucking like usual or...?

11/21 FT

1-9 3 PT

That'll do it.

Great effort, but a bad team can't overcome those pathetic numbers.

Mason 15 pts, McBrayer 13, Murphy 12, all underclassmen. There is indeed hope for the future.

He was the only one who could play any kind of defense against Hammons also.

I really don't understand why Pitino had King in there until he fouled out. He simply isn't capable of guarding Hammons (or Haas). He couldn't guard Maverick Morgan.

To me it's more about the missed FT's than the 3's.

Free throws are probably easier to make. But it takes 3 free throws to make one three. Gophers really need to improve both. Can't shoot that badly at both.

Agreed. I think only shooting 10 3 pointers is a good sign. We shouldn't be shooting more than a dozen or so unless we are really knocking them down. I saw a lot of good ball movement tonight.

Just 16 points from our upperclassmen. King, Morris, and Buggs are just role players. Sometimes they play well, others they are non-existent. We're not going to miss much next season.

Mason averaging 19.7 points, 8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in last three games.

Not getting a 2 for 1 with 50 seconds left down 2 is completely inexcusable. If people want to point to coaching, a situation like that is what you should point to. Would have been nice to make some free throws, would have been nice to have that Dupree bucket we were robbed of, and it would have been nice to have a couple of those Bakary jumper possessions back.

A lot of positives from Dupree, Bakary, Jordan, and Nate.

Good effort can definitely see the improvement game by game just need to get over the hump and finish one. Thought Mason was great tonight and really controlled things think he ended with a double double. McBrayer was good again, Murphy struggled some in the 1st half but got going again in the 2nd, Buggs did some good things, and I thought Konate had one of his better games although there were some ups and downs. Konate took 4 or so jump shots that Purdue baited him into and I think that is too many for him. Frustrating to leave a lot of points at the free throw line again. Really thought Purdue got the benefit of about 5-6 blown calls tonight the charge call on McBrayer in the 2nd half was big and absolutely terrible.

Man the charge call on McBrayer was horrible. What was he looking at?

Team is definitely getting better....and playing more together.

Worst coach ever?..........think not.

They were trying for the 2 for 1, Purdue's defense denied it. It was a very well coached game by Pitino and well played by the players. 75% of the points from frosh and sophs against a mature team.

Wasn't there plenty of time for a 2 for 1 at the end of the first half too.

Crushed the spread. money in my pocket. team is getting better. Better on defense. less mistakes on offense. improvement.

Big thing tonight: an excellent game plan by Pitino. I was dreading this game - thought we'd get mauled. I'm proud of the way these guys engaged. Lots of subbing to keep the defense fresh. If the defense is good, we're in the game when the shots eventually fall.

Loved the crowd response to the McBrayer 'charge'. That may be the loudest and longest sustaining booing of a call I've ever heard there. I think we may have saved Pitino from a technical - why go on exploding when the crowd has got your back? It was replayed on the jumbo so that fueled a lengthy response.

Great effort. More improvement but we gotta find a way to win. I was so impressed by how they came back from double digit deficits time after time when they could've folded. Even the atmosphere in the Barn was reminiscent of better days. Just gotta stay the course.

No, we didn't. The ref put his hand out like, "That's enough," and Pitino backed off right there. That ref knew it was a blown call by the other guy. Have no problem with Pitino's actions in light of that and a couple of other fouls called on us.

Where's the a-hole from last year who said free throws don't matter? Really? Murphy has an argument with you.
When you are playing in closely contested games, where they could mean the difference between winning and losing, they sure as h#ll matter. When you are playing in a game where you are getting blown out by 25-plus points and you could care less about it, then nothing matters.
