*** OFFICIAL MINNESOTA-MICHIGAN STATE IN-GAME THREAD ***

how can nix play 32 minutes....

thats more minutes than all our guys except coleman ( 33 )?

our 12th guy played 5 minutes. 5 minutes!

"tubby is getting the bench ready..." ready for what? the future is now.

Did you think we had more talent then Indiana, Michigan, Ohio st, or mich st? Get real!

No, but I think that's what is so frustrating. When you don't have as much talent ,you have to be more disciplined and do the little things better (limit turnovers, make FTs, execute, play hard) -- and we just don't seem to ever do that. Is that coaching or just a lack of competitive talent?

We needed to take the ball to the basket more. We had 0 dunks! Credit to MSU who played excellent defense.

Mbakwe needs to get the ball down on the block a lot more often than he is right now.

This was a game that we could have stold away. There aren't many teams that go to Michigan State and come out with a win. It was a little frustrating because this was a game we had a number of chances while not really playing that great. They said on the radio that Andre and Austin in a combined 3 games at the Breslin Center had combined for a total of zero points before tonights game. One thing we need to do more is make a better effort to get the ball inside and to the rim. I really thought the difference in this game was Gary Harris, he showed no signs of any injury and hit a number of key shots.

MSU just has better players, IMO. Easier to look good against lesser comp...

This would have been a game to steal to make up for the Northwestern loss, still a chance to do that with a home win over Indiana. Most of the points I would make with regards to the actual game have been made. It's frustrating to see this team struggle so badly on the offensive end of the floor.

It's amazing, reading this thread, I get the impression that the majority of Gopher fans actually think that the Big Ten is the SEC. EXPECTING a win ON THE ROAD vs a 7-2 MSU team that is contending for the Big Ten Title, like they ALWAYS seem to do?!

All week, I read nothing but negative comments, like every single Gopher fan known to man expects the Gopher's to lose this game, until they hear that there might be two players for MSU injured, then I read a few players probably doing some wishful thinking, predicting the Gopher's would win narrowly. But basically, the general concensus was that MSU was the better team, Gophers are playing horribly, our coach sucks worse than any other coach in the history of college basketball, and its a ROAD game. Yet the entire game, posters are making comments as if they expect this horribly playing Gopher team, with no bench support whatsoever, and the worst coach known to mankind, to actually go into a hostile environment vs the #11 team in the nation, AND WIN??????

Sorry, but I am NOT as much of a believer as any of you people. Maybe that makes me a bad fan, or not a true fan. But I've simply come to accept the fact that us beating Illinois on the road meant nothing. Illinois SUCKS!!!! They can't beat anyone. They are 2-7 in conf right now. Our beating them pumped up everyone's expectations WAY TOO HIGH.

OOC?! We got lucky vs Stanford. Not the best team in the Pac-10. Our win vs Memphis?! Memphis plays no one. They dropped down below #100 in the rankings after we beat them and VCU beat them. They've only climbed back because they play in a weak, a VERY weak conf.

Florida St?! Serious?!

These wins look good on our resume, don't get me wrong, I'll bring those wins up against any other team out there wanting to compare resumes, but NONE of them proved us to be what we all thought we were, contenders for the Big Ten title.

We have 5 good players. We need 3 of them to be on their game to win. When only 1 or 2 show to play, we lose. We have the opposite of depth. We are as shallow as you get. One injury to a starter and we're done. We play in the Big Ten, take one of our starters away and we're competing with Iowa and Illinois.

We are playing in a conf that's have its BEST SEASON EVER. And we are showing ourselves to be competitive with those teams. Our goal right now should be to simply win enough games to get a favorable schedule in the NCAA tourney and then hope we get 3 of our 5 to show up and play great. Then a run is possible.

If 3 of our starters show up and play great, we can compete with just about anyone in the country.

If only 1 or 2 show up, or if one gets injured, we couldn't win a game in the NIT tourney.

Lots of parity in cbb this season.

It's simple, we were SUPPOSED TO LOSE THIS GAME. No one expected us to win this game. But with 5 minutes left, we were only down by 5, and we had chances to narrow that gap by half and those opportunities slipped away and the HOME team, the #11 ranked HOME team, a team thats been to 6 FF's in the 21st Century, held us at bay. NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, we win the next 2 and we are IN BUSINESS.

I enjoyed this game. I enjoyed the fact that we were still in it with a chance, very late in the game. The NCAA tournament, playing on a neutral court, will be so different. Teams up and down the Top 25 poll are losing games, left and right, and Gopher fans are still slitting their throats over games that, even a month ago, when everyone was high as hell on the Gophers, we all saw as a probably loss.

I really, really like your take on damn near everything. Thanks for being one of the grounded ones.

Some excellent points. I think it really makes the point why so many people feel like the program needs a new direction. At best - its a middle of the pack team/program. This team probably has more potential then any team in the near future and it looks like 5,6 or t is where they will end up. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed by that.

Could they make a tourn run? Maybe - but i can just as easily see them getting beat 1st rd!

maybe it's just me, but MSU is doing the same moving screen hip check move to get shooters open for three that Iowa did successfully against us

If that is the case and it is not called we need to do the same. Our screening leaves a lot to be desired.
