Gophs in a tough spot: a cratering team but possessing multiple players who would be contributors on successful teams (like Battle last off season).

You have a point there. Big Ten isn't the best place for small and slight guards.

If you fire him now players have more time to figure out their next NIL destination. If you fire him at the end of the year, you need to have a big time coach ready within days and sell his plan to Payne, Christie, Asuma, JOJ and Grove. That's the core for the next guy.

This is really bad basketball though. There is enough talent here to be better than this. Ben really has no clue how to augment strengths and hide weaknesses.

ther are some pieces but they are going to be last 3 YEAR IN , i like asuma but he is not a job saver or even in the top 150. We are not saving world beaters.
 



Whether they should fire the HC mid season or not is debatable. Unlikely they do it.

With the right HC hire and right players added from the portal you can become competitive in basketball in a hurry.

Considering the AD’s track record at the U with BB hires not sure he is the guy to pull off the right hire.

I would like Payne and Christie to stay and Asuma to stay committed. But that is going to be based on the new coach and what their options are. Whether fire Ben in December or March isn't going to change anything.

Yeah, that works really well. Recruit 10 players out of the portal. Every time you say something sensible, you apparently feel the need to say something blustery and foolish for balance.
