***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS PURDUE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes, that was the only defensive weakness today, but that Octeus has become a very dangerous player during the Big Ten season. This might be the best interior defensive game in conference that I've seen Pitino's team play.

Mo played very good defense in this game. Denied a lot of entry passes and never lost his man. That's why I had to laugh when Richard put Eliason in in a defensive situation late in the game.

Todays game was much better in regard to valuing the basketball...with one exception. Morris had some terrible shot choices that allowed Purdue to stay in the game. Sadly our bench is not deeper or Morris would be living on the end of the pines with his shot selection.

I thought our defensive pressure was excellent. Our rotations on defense were really solid. Purdue made some ridiculous three point shots to close out the game that no one would have expected to go in.

Overall, this was one of the better games the team has had as a whole. Now to go and produce on the road.

I still don't anticipate any wins away from the Barn, but here's to hoping for a miracle.

You've got to bench Morris when he does that, better competition and they don't win that game.

Does anybody know of a site that shows plus/minus box scores for CBB?

Mathieu had no TO's, 6 assists 3 steals, second game in a row without a TO. How important this type of play is right now.

He played hard but he repeatedly drives too deep and gets his shot blocked. Those are effectively turnovers. He definitely is playing in a streak of hard luck his shots will not fall right now- everything that doesn't get blocked seems to rim in and out on him.

Can anyone speculate if Woodard would be good enough to compete with Morris for the starting wing spot next season?

Loved the energy of the team & the crowd today. Got goose bumps when the place got cranked up in the early minutes of the 2nd half. Our guys played hard, very hard. We got some calls to go our way, they got some bounces. Made for a whale of a game. The Barn is very much alive & well, thanks to all who attended and participated.

Sometimes hard to tell by watching on TV. VERY evident today.

People have said some variation of this post after pretty much every game this year. The problem is there's no one to sub in for Morris. Morris was never intended to play this much, as McNeil was supposed the split time with him, but he gone. We're so thin at the 3 that we had to bring on the walk-on kid from Wisconsin just to have an extra 3 for practices and in case of injury or something to Morris. Sucks not being able to sit a guy, that sometimes needs to sit.

Glad to see the team win and I loved the defensive effort that sparked the big run in the second half. The crowd was also surprisingly loud and involved in a game that still doesn't appear to have much significance barring a big time finish to the year. I was disheartened to see this team choke down the stretch again though. This time I thought their was some blame to be placed on Pitino. Up just two with a minute or so left, the Gophers ran the shot clock all the way down and were forced in to a Joey King(!) drive from the top of the key. The team was extremely fortunate that the tip got stuck on the rim causing a jump ball (finally a break for our Gophers, though if Purdue hadn't banked in two 3's this wouldn't matter). The shot clock is now off and the Boilermakers are going to be forced to foul. What is our inbounds play? Mo sets a screen for Joey to come get ball which if successful would have likely given King the ball in the corner where he could be trapped. Andre Hollins is on the opposite block while this is going on and NEVER MOVES. Mathieu is near the elbow above Hollins and NEVER MOVES. The screen for King is unsuccessful so King backs out towards half court with his hand in the air wanting Morris to try to throw a pass over the head of Kings more athletic defender. Morris (not his fault, he has not option) tries to make this pass to King and it's clearly going to be picked off, but Mathieu runs over from his spot on the other elbow and leaps in the air to catch the ball in front of King's defender. Of course, Lil 'Dre then misses the front end of the game clinching free throws, but in this instance he clearly saved a turnover and a potential transition opportunity. The end result is great, but the script at the end of this game mirrored the 6 conferences losses decided by a possession.

Thank you! We can't expect De'Andre, Hollins, and Mason to all play 35+ minutes a game and have success with the press. There is no way we have that many steals yesterday without Morris.

Especially considering he had 5 of them himself. It's quite obvious that Pitino favors guys that are fearless going to the hole rather than aimlessly passing the ball around the outside of the perimeter with no attacking threat. Maurice loses minutes for his turnovers on offense not for his poor slap shot selection Pitino wants guys to shoot when they feel like they're open. Maurice is what he is a guy that when he's hot is going to be wanting your best players and when he's not hot you just hope to get a couple turnovers on defense out of him.

The only problem that I have with Walker is that he is not a good rebounder. We were dominated on the boards and part of the reason for that is that the center is no aggressive on the boards. I'm sure that was the reason for the substitution.

Early in the game, there was one sequence where he failed to be in defensive position and then wasn't in rebounding position - and then Purdue scored on the second chance. It's like, Mo, pick one: defense or rebounding! But he had a good rest of the day defensively, including making mental adjustments to what the Boilers were running. But yes, rebounding not so good.

I believe Richard found this left in Tubby's desk drawer and thought he'd give it a try.

Does anyone know who the guy was right behind the scorers table in a sport coat and lavender shirt? A number of people including Jerry Kill came over and gave him a warm welcome. Possibly a former player?

Maybe the guy who just donated $6 million for the practice facility? No idea really, just a wild guess.
