***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS HAWKEYES FLOYD OF ROSEDALE IN-GAME THERAD!!***

Great game a lot of guys stepped up today and played close to their best. Really love the way the defense shut down Weisman and Iowa's running game and how we were able to control the trenches on both offense and defense. Also good to see some guys who don't get a lot of playing time come in late and make some plays especially Perry going right through the probable 1st round pick LT for Iowa to get the sack and a couple of the hits Williams put on the Iowa QB.

Understandable. But we beat Illinois & lose to Iowa & it's same old Gophers. This is something different. Look how they responded. This is NOT the Gophers of old. That in itself gives me confidence in the direction & future of the program & makes minor current setbacks meaningless. The bigger picture is becoming clear...

+1. I was at the Illinois game and just left feeling totally empty. Can't describe it, but I wasn't pissed...just really shell-shocked. I said immediately after to my brother that if a close win vs. Illinois meant the team would come out flat and lose to Iowa, while a loss to Illinois would lead to a more focused and intense team beating Iowa, I'd get over the Illinois loss pretty quick. Thank goodness for this performance today. All hail Kill and co!

Gotta give credit to the blocking on the jet sweeps. Cobb had several great blocks that allowed Maye to gain yardage.

I guess rushing the field Vs Iowa is gonna work its way into tradition

I think it has more to do with social media. Everyone wants to get a picture of the pig.

It wasn't rushing the field, it was more like a group celebration.

AND IT WAS ****ING AWESOME TO WATCH!

Went to the game with my brother, prepared to watch a nail biter. Instead, we were treated to the most complete game of Jerry Kill's tenure (so far).

Going into this contest, a number of posters were worried about whether the Gophers D could contain a power running offense like Iowa. There was also a fair amount of anxiety about whether the Gophers would come out with yet another slow start.

The entire team came ready to play. Even on Iowa's first drive, the defense was stopping Iowa's bread and butter plays on first and second down. Yes, the 3rd down conversions were made by Iowa (including what looked like a gift Interference call on Murray - that ball was well overthrown), which had me a bit nervous. But, after we answered with our first TD the D came out and played lights out. No waiting until halftime to make adjustments, we just made plays. Pass breakups, an INT, a forced fumble and recovery, and solid tackling all around. For this game, the D was well prepared and they executed until the 3rd string came in for garbage time. Before the garbage drive, Iowa had a total of 124 yards of offense. Wow!

On offense, Leidner stepped up and showed that is a definitely capable of being a starting B1G QB. He was extremely efficient (10-13) throwing the ball, including 4 TDs. He had better touch on his long throws to Jones and Maxx, and made a perfect throw to Freuchte in a pocket of Iowa's zone for a first down. We didn't need David Cobb to carry the ball 30 times - instead, we successfully executed a nice mix of run plays including Cobb, Maye (emerging as a real weapon), and Leidner making good choices on when to keep it himself - totaling nearly 300 yards rushing. Hats off to Limegrover and the players for creating and executing a solid game plan.

I'm not ready to look past this win, as the next 3 opponents are likely the toughest since TCU. But, a convincing win like this against a legitimate B1G opponent is yet another piece of evidence that the program is moving in the right directly.

Congratulations to Jerry Kill, the coaches, and the players on a great game and a great win!

GO GOPHERS!

Only saw the first half but it was probably the best half of Gopher football I've seen during the Kill era. Really impressive all the way around. After the first two drives and with Iowa moving the ball prior to the interception, I thought "This is going to be one of those games that whoever gets it last is going to win" given how both teams were moving the ball and taking time of the clock. But after that interception, we really picked it up.

Glad that they contained Weisman and showed that if you don't let him get off-tackle, he's pretty ordinary.

Big, big, big win.

Haven't seen anyone else say this yet, but Leidner looked healthy today - he was running fast and powerfully for the first time since he got injured early in the season.

Leidner and Limey did a great job of mixing up the three dimensions of the running game and mixing in a lot of playaction. Iowa's D looked lost out there; the first time I've seen an opponent's D look lost since last year vs. Nebraska.

Again, I only saw the first half, but I thought this was the most inventive and off-pattern that I've seen Limegrover and it really worked well. He used Maye a lot and used play-action. I don't dog Limegrover much, but it was fun to watch him put a few wrinkles in today.

And yes, Leidner looked a lot healthier.

Anyone know what warranted the sideline warning after that lame PI call in the first quarter?

Leidner has shown he can be an efficient Big Ten Quarterback in a number of games. The problem has been he's never been able to put a complete conference game together. He's been good for a Quarter or a Half, but not full game. His great 3rd Quarter against the Illini almost pulled a win out where he wasn't much good for a couple of other Quarters.

Today? Today he was good nearly anytime he was on the field.

Hope he stays healthy and that today was a sign of things to come. Over the last two seasons when the Gophers throw the ball well it opens up the run and keeps the Defense off the field. Oh and they win.

Yeah, let's keep that going.

Leidner was very good today in all phases. He passed with touch and confidence, he ran with purpose and speed and he was a leader of men in the huddle and on the sideline.

He also made good decisions on the read option. Just great all around game for him.
