***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS BUCKEYES BLACK OUT GAME THREAD!!!!!!!!***

Being a Gopher fan is miserable. I became a Gopher in fall 2006, and since then our best football season included blowing a 17-3 lead against Wisconsin and our best basketball season included a February collapse which dropped us from the 8th ranked team in the country to not even being one of the top 8 seeds in our conference tournament.

Anyone who blames this loss on Tubby is an absolute idiot

better look at the dude on the end of the bench currently--no, not saying to fire him, he's got to learn though, every team likes it at half court---especially when you are down, tied, I can see going w/o a to

that is on the coach, you had a to left, unorganized **** going on out there---get it to half ****ing court and call a to

Nope. It was under 10 seconds. Calling a TO would have resulted in a desperation shot. Little Dre just grew a size 1 neck...

Andre Hollins with an unforced turnover and an airball in overtime. Mo Walker with a turnover in overtime. DeAndre Mathieu with a turnover in overtime. Carlos Morris and, to a lesser extent, Mo Walker were a disaster on defense in the second half.

I can't believe the season is already over, but the way this team played in the first half maybe that's what they wanted. Absolutely disgusted right now.

Multiply your "pain" by 4 and you'll get a feeling of how long the rest of our misery has been.

Dude, go back decades and then try it!

See my signature. It says it all...

This season was doomed weeks ago when it became obvious Pitino and staff whiffed on four of the six players in his first full recruiting class. Hopefully two of the those four can contribute by 2017 or 2018.

those were some big studs--you can't get them to MN, hell even wisky loses there top in state players---looney(ucla), tokoto(unc)

Tough loss. After battling back in second half, you have to find way to finish that one.

Wish we would have beat Purdue.

That ending was unfortunate, but please stop with the "why did we not call timeout" crap.

Usually when any team calls a timeout we end up with a bunch of dribbling and a 30 foot shot. With the amount of time on the clock they needed to just go for it. The problem is that a Minnesota guard did not just drive hard to the basket. A foul occurs more than half the time when a quick player drives hard, and that is what needed to happen.

On a related topic, the SEC Network "look in' needs to be the topic of the night. Delaney needs to raise hell about what happened tonight. SEC Network my ass, the Big Ten needs to quickly re-evaluate any association it has with ESPN/ ABC. ESPN needs to be held accountable for this SEC bias they have in their business model.

So you've already given up on one guy who hasn't even played a single minute and another who has barely played?

Tough loss in a game I really thought we would get. Game came down to a lot of little things the put back dunk right before half where Buggs didn't put a body on the guy and the one late where King didn't put a body on the guy were two of the most annoying things to me that were huge in the final result. Couple missed free throws late and in OT by Andre, Mason, and EE with chances to tie or take the lead on a few of them. Would have been a completely different game if we would have forced somebody besides Russel to beat us in the 1st half like we did in the 2nd half. Russel was the one guy I hoped they wouldn't let get open shots early and he got pretty much whatever he wanted in the 1st half. A lot of people will complain about not using a timeout at the end of OT but I liked the call to let them go just wish Mathieu would have took it to the basket and made a play like at Michigan State last year. I actually was more upset we didn't call a timeout at the end of regulation when King had the ball and threw up the half court shot. Heading into the Michigan game it is at least a little encouraging that Andre seemed to find his shot a little in the 2nd half. Seemed like a number of guys were cramping up with the lack of depth we have guys gotta get that taken care of and be at full strength or as close to full strength as they can be. Need to get the ball to Mo early as Michigan doesn't have a whole lot of size and we should be able to take advantage of that.

I 100% agree that that is not an automatic TO at that point in the game. But the second dean dee stopped going to the hole a drawn up play was going to be as good as we could muster there. Instead young p had his arms crossed and said nothing. 1st fault math second Pitino.

Should not have gone to overtime - Hollins and Mason go 2 for 4 on late free throws which proved to do us in.

+1 Agreed. Our best shot was to create something off transition, taking the ball to the hole. Hell, we usually have trouble even getting the ball in bounds, let along get a shot. Little Dre just went crazy and lost the ball. At the end of a game you need to know who to get the ball to for the last shot. Problem is, we don't seem to have anyone who wants it.

Helter-Skelter basketball. Charlie Manson would be proud. I honestly think a 3 legged sloth could score on Morris. I wanted Eric Musselman. You saw the inexperience of Pitino tonight at crunch time by not calling a TO with 5.6 seconds left. He still maybe the Messiah, but we need to see how he does with his recruits. Drop the " CAA" and add "IT" to the "N" That's where the boys will be at the end of the season.

OSU is supposedly excellent at guarding the ob pass-in. Could be the reason for the no TO.

The second he stopped going to the hole was when he passed it. Can't call a timeout if you don't have possession of the ball.

Gut-wrenching loss. Either find a way to win at Michigan or it's over.

I don't want to come across as constantly defending Pitino, but I had no issue with the lack of a timeout. Mathieu thought King was open at the top of the key and tried passing him the ball and didn't see the defender. It was a bad play by Mathieu, but with 5.7 seconds left, I think it's best to inbound the ball and go and try to catch the defense in transition. The decision making/execution was poor on the floor (and that falls partly on Pitino), but I don't think a timeout and trying to score against a set defense in ~3 seconds or so is the answer. If their was a time to call a timeout it was when Mason chased the ball down. A timeout there and the Gophers can at least try to set up a desperation 3 or lob to the basket as opposed to a half court three.
