*** OFFICIAL GOPHERS-PENN STATE GAME THREAD ***

I just really hope we don't come out the 2nd Half conservative & have a quick 3 & Out because we've done that too many times this Season. Need to stay aggressive & chew up the clock!

He seems to get better with every play. Would prefer he didn't have to run so much (Aaron Rodgers).

Nelson's great running ability is one reason he's a good QB. If he keeps this up, I'll be changing my "he's the best QB the Gophers have had since Cupito and AAK." As of the past 12 quarters of play, he's looked like the best Gopher QB in my cognizant lifetime, including Foggie, AAK, Cupito, Sauers.

Yeah. Zero reason to spike the ball there. None. Didn't bite us, but that shouldn't have happened.

Was it only me who agreed with the spike call? It's what I would have done, as 2 TO's would have still been necessary to allow two plays to occur within the sidelines.

As it turned out, the second TO was called right before the TD pass. Maybe that 2nd TO isn't called if there wasn't one left in the bank. I'd say whatever they did there, worked very well. :)

Was not needed, but did not end up hurting MN. If it did Clayes would be getting ripped for it. Fortunatley its how many, not how you get there.

If the Gophers keep taking up 6 and 7 minutes on scoring drives, PSU won't have enough time to come back.

YEah, but with a first down the clock stops, they then used a TO with a stopped clock on 3rd down anyway, so I think it was a total waste...but in the end it had ne effect on anything.

Great first half offensively. Even though we threw for a lot of yards, we still controlled the clock with tough runs and third down conversions (and a couple of fourth).

PSU will come out of half time throwing more down 2 TDs, especially if the Gophs can get points on their opening drive. We can't fall apart like we did last week against IN. Must get pressure on the ball, keep scoring on O and I think we have one more turn over to get from PSU. Predict - fumble forced by Michael Amuefeula recovered by Damian Wilson in the fourth quarter to seal the deal!

I agree with anyone else who thinks that a nice long TD drive to start the second half probably mostly seals up this ball game. I don't think MN will let the same thing happen two weeks in a row, especially at home.

1. I never really even dreamed that we might win more than 7 games this season - suddenly 9 wins seems almost within reach? Wow.

2. I really like Claeys humility in pointing out why their star WR has been mostly shut down (the success of their running game)

3. This game is far from over, but i don't feel nearly the same amount of apprehension about the lead as i did vs. Indiana.

4. My Gophers 38 Penn St 20 prediction is looking pretty good so far!!

Good lord in heaven, how long have you been watching the Goohers. We've lost a seasons worth of unloseable games the past 15 years. This ain't over muh boy.

Remember, it starts again with the ready for play.

Hope we decide to throw on 1st more this half. Penn st. D is selling out to stop the run on 1st down especially. Not sayin don't run it, just change it up a bit.

I became a Gopher fan as child when we'd listen to the games on the radio, in the back yard while raking leaves. Must have been..'86-'87? Darrell Thompson and Ricky Foggie were on the team. I know exactly what you refer to, i just have a different feel about this team. finally.

I realize that, but if you get up to the line its 3-5 seconds after the whistle to run the play...just saying I thought the spike was not needed...but to each their own...

That play was huge...great hole and run there. At work we flip the field on this drive and eat up clock. 3 pts is huge here.

Ok. Not to be too nit-picky but we're doing that thing again, where we have a lead and are snapping the ball too early without running down the play clock.

Ya, it makes no difference. We scored the TD so that is all that matters.

I'll be happy if we don't allow a 20+ yard run right here on this first play...
