How on Earth do we want kick that offensive rebound back out and play for the last shot? That was an enormous mental mistake, these guys need to get their heads in the game.

I knew before he shot the ball it would be good. You can predict it. Gopher sports in situations like that is cursed. But it all goes back to Coleman not pulling the ball out for the last shot. Or I suppose to missing a wide open twelve footer.

You win this game by locking down Richardson and Paul. The Illini have no inside game that EE and Mbakwe cannot shut down.

1) Leave the 3-ball open and I'm yanking your sorry butt.
2) "Oto, don't even think about pulling off your warmup clothes because you won't see the court again as long as your on the team"
3) Coleman, learn how to make a 10 footer... Otherwise don't shoot it!
 

Coleman is OFF tonight and should stop shooting....if it aint a dunk, pull it back out.

Watching Oto and Mo Williams get extended minutes reminds how much we miss having Rodney...At least Rodney can get the occasional rebound or dunk.

I don't think Tubby is responsible for Coleman missing a wide open 10 footer badly. If that goes in there is no issue. Subs on the other hand...
 

As much as I hate Bo Ryan, at least his players are on the same page as him and don't seem to fear making a mistake. Tubbys team plays scared...all the time. I have watched enough games this year to see that is the glaring difference between the this team and the other upper echelon teams in the conference. They play with such little confidence when things don't go their way..that is a direct reflection of their coach, IMO.

The athleticism is there, the coaching is not. Really too bad, but this easily could end up another NIT year.

Undisciplined and poorly coached. Looks like maybe 4 more wins and a .500 big ten. EPIC FAIL by Tubby once again. His teams always get worse in B10 play unlike the Grinch in madtown.
 

This first half is what happens when you play Mo Walker 8 minutes in a half - when Elliott was on the court, the team was ~+12. Mo in the game, -13. Tubby, WAKE UP. There is no reason to have Walker on the court. If we have no big man, fine.

That second foul call on Eliason was terrible, by the way. For all the banging the refs have allowed under the hoop - which greater favors an outside shooting team - to call Eliason for just trying to put his arm in the way of the interior pass was ridiculous.

Also, transition defense - QUIT STUFFING THE LANE AND GUARD THE 3.
 

What the hell is wrong with people in this thread? No freaking team is perfect!!! Did you anyone honestly think Illinois wouldn't make a run? Just settle down. The game is not over!!!!

Simple solution to winning...

1) Play starters 16 minutes this half.
2) Feed Mbakwe
3) Guard Richardson and Paul on the perimeter!

Yeah I expected a 15+ win, were better then them
 

If we lose this game, NIT beckons...No way we could come back from this and beat IU, WISC, OSU or Purdue on road. 8-10 will leave the GOphers OUT and deservedly so. I will not watch another game with Tubby as HC.
 

I can't decide which is more entertaining, watching the game or this thread.
