***OFFICIAL GOPHERS AT NORTHWESTERN BIG TEN OPENER IN GAME THREAD!!***

I like the wr screens but it seems like we always throw it to our slowest receivers

The inability to get plays in leading to serial unnecessary timeouts is a symptom of the coaches arguing, vs Limey can't decide. Seems like the former is more logical. It happens far too much to just be a brain fart...right?

this. simple dysfunction. our coaches believe they know it all. they will never change.

who cares about an interception. give leidner better options than a damn out route.
What you don't seem to get is there were multiple options (routes) on that play and Mitch chose the out route. Badly run route, bad read, bad throw.

Limegrover isn't going anywhere.

How many read options up the middle have to get stuffed before you try something different?

I think the OL is down this year and Leidner has never been great at the read option anyway.

The only time we throw beyond 5 yards is when we have to. It's pretty easy to defend. I'm not defending Leidner and I'd be okay with Croft getting a chance, but the play calling isn't making it easy either.

Maybe the QB's immense struggles with any their more than 5 yards downfield has something to do with that play calling.

Looking forward to $1,300 seats next year after a 1 or 2 win B10 season.

Our OLine sucks and Leidner can't hit the ground with a pass. So more options don't do **** with him. He's not the answer, but evidently they feel no one else they've recruited is either. So we have nothing to switch to.

he can throw. we've seen it plenty. he threw some awesome balls last year vs NW. i remember them distinctly.

We called a timeout on 4th down because the coaches weren't ready for a play that gained no yards. That's what we get most plays, so they SHOULD BE READY FOR IT. I just don't understand the inability of the coaches to be prepared. We're never the team making the other team adjust or doing things they haven't seen before. We're always the same plain vanilla offense and defense that never does much pre-snap...

Well we're struggling when we're not doing those things so what is the point of not at least trying?

Not true. I just switched channels.

Won't know until we switch. I won't give our coaching staff the benefit of the doubt in terms of judging QB play considering what they have trotted out there the past 5 years. If they aren't playing a DB for a certain reason that's another story.

Brutal. Glad I was wrapped up with TC Marathon family day activities... Following along on Twitter is so much less stressful

Kind of bummed the first season I have season tickets is looking like a dud. But was so promising at the start. Really hope I at least see us beat Wisconsin.

We should be able to recruit any QB in the country. Play a video of our defense, then play a video of our QB play. Young man, are you better than Mitch? Come win the BIG with us.

The way these guys are playing, they won't beat anybody in the league, much less Wisconsin.

Well, lets hope Matt, Mitch and crew figure it out for the second half. If the O comes out and lays an egg to start, then it might be time to consider Croft, Perra, whomever. Sometimes a change at Qb brings some urgency and a spark to the offense. It's worth a try if the alternative is another inept half of offense like the 1st half.

Okay boys, put your money on the table right now. Do the Gophers top 10 points in this game?

I say no.

Embarrassing showing by to coaching staff so far. At this point, I'm just looking forward to another whiny post-game pity party from Kill.

Let me better explain the problem we have...

The Coaches are plain scared, stubborn, and over matched in the B10.
Mitch Leidner is a below average QB, and our O-Line isn't very good right now.
We need a more mobile QB to play right now since our O-Line isn't very good.
But the Coaches are too scared and stubborn to make a switch because they don't want the younger QB's to make mistakes.
So they keep playing Leidner even though he makes a lot of mistakes and just can't pass very well.
But to limit his mistakes, they just call the safest plays they think he can make.
So essentially, they are just giving up.

we dont recruit dozens of qbs who are better than what we have. there are so many lightly recruited qbs who are so much better than what we have. they show up every week on tv. but we dont know how to find them.

Sums it up. It's a vicious cycle.
