***OFFICIAL CLEVELAND STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Sheesh. Not good. Michigan put up 101 on this team. Looks like us, USC and Washington are the bottom 3 in the league.

If Tyler Cochran is better than Michael Jordan this team might win 6 conf games!

Cripes this staff is pathetic.

Parker Fox looked really good......struggling to come up anything else....I guess we won but that was ugly basketball.

Johnson's first team was senior heavy but was at least fun to watch even though they were super limited in terms of size most games.

This team......they really need Mike Mitchell back ASAP. Asuma getting some quality minutes....Betts is a complete non factor which is really unfortunate. Not much there to get excited about and tough to think they are going to win many games once Big Ten play starts but it is what it is at this point.

Actually, by this season's standards so far, I thought this was a good effort. First time in the season with four players scoring in double figures.

Garcia took a break from his league MVP path and that forced other players to step up and some of them really delivered. Glad to see Asuma assert himself. I think he should start from here on and he'll get even better. Of course, terrific game by Fox after being dormant for a few games. Rigsby was pretty good too.

I read some posters saying how terrible Odukale was. I don't agree. I think he's one our top five players (of the healthy ones - I know that's not saying a lot). Sure, he's the picture of futility when he tries to score but he does a lot of other things on the floor including stuff that doesn't show up in the box score, like causing turnovers without being credited for a steal.

One thing the NC games offers is a look at the newbies. Thus far I'm not impressed on offense but the guys on the floor play hard and focus on D. Thus far the results are somewhat encouraging.

Offense is another matter. Part of the problem is Ben does not use set plays which is vital when the talent isn't there. Plus he needs to get the ball to Garcia on a post up's both high and low and get everyone else out of his way but move to help prevent the 2x. I don;t see that happening. Ben is a big part of the problem.

I'm guessing Ben was grabbing anyone he could in the portal as FM and Patterson are role players at best. Okudale has great hands and is solid on D. Rigsby belongs on the floor 30+minutes.

Tonight the cream rose to the top and that includes Asuma and Fox together with Garcia, Rigsby and Okudale in spite of his many weaknesses. MM needs to heal quickly.

This could be a 6 man rotation and hope that no one gets hurt.

So what can be our best lineup??

PG: Asuma
SG: Mitchell (when healthy)
SF: Rigsby
PF: Garcia
C: Fox

Cochran(when healthy), Odukale, Patterson, Mitchell off the bench. Edmonds if/when Fox and Mitchell get in foul trouble. Betts complete non factor, and is basically unplayable at this point.

The one blessing in disguise from all the early injuries has certainly been key minutes for Asuma early in season. Hopefully he can develop enough to start at the #1 and allow Mitchell to go back to his more natural #2. Then we can really get creative with the 3 and 5 spots around Garcia depending on matchups and how games progress (much like tonight when it was clear Fox was on his game). I don’t have high hopes for this season, but I have a glimmer of it for some reason! Still fun to watch every now and then.

He's a good defender, no question about that. But he's a complete liability on the offensive end of the court....which is a problem for one of the guards.

Okudale’s defensive instincts much sharper than his offensive.

The Schaeffer/Filer/Gilcud/McCutcheon 73-74 squad struggled to score (but could win games playing tough Musselman match-up zone) but this year’s team takes offensive futility to a new level. It’s beyond me why it’s so hard to enter the ball at high post or low post to Garcia or low post to Mitchell.

No question he should shoot as little as possible and he needs to cut down on the turnovers but he still helps the team in multiple ways.
