Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

I believe only 1 of the OL played a significant number of reps.

The RG Marshall and the RT Ray both played most of the reps all season. Both were transfers in and both started every game. That said, neither played particularly well most of the season and Marshall ended up getting benched in the second to last game and the last game.

they signed 2 DT and one got hurt and missed the whole year

One transfer DT Rushawn Lawrence played and contributed quite a bit.

Out of about 17-19 transfer portal players, only two started full time and Javon Tracy was starting at the end of the season.

Ray and Marshall both started every game on the OL. John Nestor started at CB and led the Big Ten in interceptions. Javon Tracy started five games and played in all the games and caught at team-leading six TDs. Drew Biber started four games (most of the ones Tracy didn't start when the team began the game in 12 or 13 personnel). Tom Weston was all-Big Ten punter and the kicker was only okay, but both transfers and starting at their positions. Others like Lawrence, Davis also had some contributions, while injuries hindered Turner, Omonode and some others.

Furthermore, the Gophers lost two OL from the 2024 team thru the portal, Daniels and Ersery.

Ersery was drafted by and is starting for the Houston Texans in the NFL. He was not a portal casualty.

My bad on Ersery. I knew he was gone, forgot that he was drafted.

The expectation isn’t for every transfer to be a major contributor. Many are brought in as depth pieces and some are brought in with the plan to develop the for the future.

They really whiffed on the ones they needed to contribute though.
I disagree, they weren’t home runs but they needed RBs, WRs, OL, and CBs, they got starters and contributors at all of them. If they’re better than what we had it’s a win eve if they’re weren’t all great they were still upgrades. A whiff would’ve been if you got nothing from them, which did happen on some of them.

Last year was a nearly complete whiff. That said, PJ is still net positive on transfers through the years and I’m sure he’ll bounce back.

Again, if a transfer plays a significant role it’s not a whiff even if he isn’t good. He’s better than the alternative options that were on the roster. I haven’t looked but I’m guessing we had more starts from first year transfer guys this year than we have ever had before.

Normally, I could see your point but 74 was so bad. I don’t know if they overpaid him on NIL that’s why he was out there but we were significantly better against Wisconsin with Nelson at right guard. 73 was almost as bad and we got a little bit of production out of The wide receiver from Miami and that’s about it.

Him and that Purdue D-lineman who wasn't over a previous injury. Did Roberson even get a snap?

Yes, it seemed to me that he was playing more towards the end of the year including in some key spots. He's out of eligibility though so that's too bad. He would have been a good depth piece for another year. It seemed like he moved relatively well which I think we'd take.

This one is a huge head scratcher for me..... I don't see his name being called...possibly with a good full year next year with solid stats, but now? No. EDIT: He is out of eligibility.

Pretty sure he is out of eligibility. Not sure why he had to declare for the draft. But its what kids do nowadays
Ahhh, you are correct... he is out of eligibility.

He was out of eligibility I believe, this is just symbolic that he's entering the draft.
Yeah...product of the social media era....I don't understand why players include the "With that being Said" line in there though because it feels like a transfer announcement when it is really just a player who is out of eligibility declaring for the NFL draft which is just kind of assumed anyway when players run out of eligibility.

Looks like something but is really just a big nothingburger. Best of luck to Brockington though, he feels like a longshot to make it in the NFL but would be crazy not to take a shot at it.
