Official 2024 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

Is he being replaced by another recruit, I don’t see it/any. Normally PJ starts recruiting replacements before we hear about a decommit.. My take he’s staying.

Even with Fife committing, it feels like there is still room for a PWO QB, does anyone know if they are still recruiting George Bjellos out of Woodbury?

If a recruit wants to do an announcement in front of his family and friends, I'm fine with that.

But I hate the whole "hat ceremony."

to me, it's like taunting the teams that don't get selected.

make it a positive event - not a negative event as in "I didn't choose you...."
Totally right. Get the family coaches and teammates there to be part of the signing. Make it a positive celebration.

Dominic Heim EP LB @5'11"/219, a Cashman type find for somebody. Offense/Defense. #22 got the tough yards for EP this past season in 3rd/1 & 4th/1, but his LB play was stellar.

Venega from Willmar has a nice frame to build on and should have gotten a pwo from the gophers. SDSU got a nice lineman.

I realize that as football has evolved "traditional" running backs are not as valued as they once were in the schemes teams play nowadays, so this may be part of it . . . but that Savion Hart is not signing somewhere today is something I just cannot figure out.

He loves launching bombs, lol! Some good stuff in there like throwing before the WR is open and not being afraid to put it up into single coverage (both HUGE problems for MN the past couple years). With his size and arm strength, he’s an intriguing prospect for sure.
I like that too.

Granted also way more doable in HS where you're less likely to get crazy athletic safety out of nowhere situations.

Still nice to see.

Interesting that Wyoming took 4 guys from Minnesota. I bet NDSU wanted them and probably got many in the past.

I’m with you. Savion Hart is the shiftiest and most natural runner I have ever seen in HS. And I played with an All America HS RB many moons ago. Behind the Gophers’ OL Hart would be a real weapon. Not sure why he isn’t rated higher.

In his senior year, against a tough schedule, he ran for 2,642 yards; he averaged 9 yards per carry; he scored 40 TDs; East Metro Player of the year. His was an epic performance.

Is he too light for the major colleges (180 lbs)? He’ll end up with a good career somewhere. He’s going to be viewed as a real miss, like Evan Hull, But probably doesn’t want to (or can’t afford to) be a PWO at Minnesota,

Maybe he doesn’t qualify academically?

His highlights are nice. He’s 180 but he’s short so fairly well put together, he runs very tough and breaks a lot of tackles.

Being from St Thomas academy I doubt academics are issue. It's that he is 5-7 weighs 170 to 180 pounds and he isn't a blazer, though he looks fast live when you see Hart run.
Sounds about Mo's size coming out of HS.

Given that he has offers from Georgetown and St Thomas it certainly wouldn’t seem like that’s the issue.

Hart may not be quite as tall as listed but he certainly is not 5’7”. I have never seen a HS runner in Minnesota move better laterally, or break more tackles.

Gophers need a #4-5 running back. Sounds like he's well regarded for his running skills.

Named Metro Player of the Year:

MaxPrep Player of the Year for Minnesota

Etc. and so forth.

Maybe he can't play special teams well enough.
