<hr>
Welcome to the 2009 Signing Day! Coach Brewster and the Gopher coaching staff are once again putting together an outstanding class of future Gophers including closing a virtual border around the state of Minnesota and adding some of the top players around the nation that chose The U over very stiff competition.

GopherHole.com will be publishing a multi-media story including video, past articles and interviews and physical stats on the new signees. In addition, updates will be provided as recruits around the nation fax in their signed LOIs to The U.

We will also publish the first in a series of “Get to Know Your Future Gopher” Q&As – with Hayo Carpenter as the first Q&A article, followed up by Q&As with Moses Alipate and MarQueis Gray just to name a few.

If WCCO would only offer a on site broadcast

It would be better. Coaches interviews, local signees, and some player interviews could easily fill 3 hours of air time. I would prefer Mike Grimm on the microphone. That having been said, The Gopherhole is leading the way!

Great stuff GopherHole. I can't wait to look through all of the videos and articles. I hope that we can add Michael Carter to the class!!

GopherSports.com says Keise, Michel and Carter have all faxed in their LOIs.

Go Gophers!!

Garrin, Orseske and Watkins have their LOIs in.

Go Gophers!!

Alipate, Campion, Lewis and Singleton fax in their LOIs.

Here's what Coach Brewster had to say about the latest signees ...

Moses Alipate - "Moses is a big, strong, physical quarterback with tremendous arm strength and above average athletic ability. Moses has all the characteristics you look for in a big-time quarterback. He’s got the size, the intelligence and competitiveness. I think that’s the thing that impressed me. I watched him play basketball in person and his competitive nature is just outstanding. I really think his upside is big."

Josh Campion - "We wanted to bring in four outstanding offensive linemen and I think we've done that. As I said with Olson, Michel and Wills, I think Josh Campion is another great prospect who brings us good athleticism, size and competitiveness. I think we've really added some talent to our offensive line position."

Kerry Lewis - "Kerry Lewis is a very smart, intelligent guy. He played in one of the most competitive places in America, down in Dallas. He is a guy who we really think has a great future as a cornerback."

Brent Singleton - "Brent Singleton is a very athletic linebacker. He’s what I call a space player. He’s an outstanding space player. He played in a highly-competitive league down in south Florida. He’s a great tackler. His defensive disposition is excellent. He’s a guy, athletically, who is going to really help our defense."

Go Gophers!!

holy crap I haven't seen some of those videos before. I think I am going to use all the bandwidth at work today on these videos. We are really upgrading the athleticism each year Brew signs a new class. What a nice change.

Also joining the class is Eric Jacques, who played both offensive and defensive line for Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Fla., where he was a teammate of earlier signee Michael Carter.

Go Gophers!!

Excellent Info

Great work Gopherhole! This is shaping up to be a great class. By the way thanks for adding in all of the 'youtube' videos that's a huge help!

More info on Jacques:

Go Gophers!!

Could be a Michael Carter Package deal? Can't find him listed anywhere. I don't have a problem with this at all, however.

Some of the names I anxiously awaiting are still pending as it appears a majority of this class has signed their LOIs and delivered them to the staff. The one's I'm specifically thinking of are Lipscomb, Bryant Allen and Carpenter. Carpenter's may be late arriving considering it's only 7:07 a.m. out in Cali, but hoping we see those other two names soon!

Carpenter is the only one GI is reporting as committed/not yet signed.

Hayo is a Gopher!

Gophersports.com is reporting that Hayo's LOI has been confirmed. So, that's all the guys we knew about, plus Carter and Jacques. Are there any more surprises to come?

Looks Like A Good Class To Me

With only Carpenter yet to send in his signed LOI (and assuming he will sign, given his public statements), and without any other surprises, this class looks good.

We've got 20 guys that we know will sign. Of those 20, only 3 are Rivals 4* prospects. However, we have 8 commits rated at 5.7 which is just below the cut off for 4* (Lipscomb is a 4* at 5.8). Only 9 of our current commits are ranked lower than 5.7 -- which to me says that we have a "top-heavy" class on paper.

Add Gray (4* 5.9), Maresh (4* 5.8) and Reeves (3* 5.7) to the 2009 signees, and all of a sudden the incoming new talent has 5 4* guys, and 9 new 3*'s rated at 5.7. That's a very good influx of talent, no matter how you look at it.

Barring any more surprise 4* signings, this class will not be as highly rated as 2008's. BUT, as has been stated before on this board, the average talent level of this class (according to Rivals rating system) is superior to last year.

Great job Brew & Co!!!

And add Matt Carufel (4*, 5.9) and Royston (3*, 5.6)

It's amazing how much the addition of one guy can change how I feel about a recruiting class. With Carter on board, the Gopher staff can now say they had a US Army All American and 2 ESPN Under Armour participants. More importantly, the staff can say that they got a huge stud from Florida (Carter), Texas (Lipscomb), California (Carpenter) and kept all but one Minnesota kid at home.

Coach Brewster is certainly delivering on his recruiting promises, and it's exciting to think what this team will look like when Brewster has a team full of his recruits.

Another update from JohnnyGopher

JohnnyGopher just sent me a text and it sounds as if we may add a kid from Detroit or Florida...he's waiting for confirmation.

Go Gophers!!

Just got an update from him that this kid from Michigan apparently had mono last year and didn't play. Word on the street is he's super athletic!

Still doesn't know a name yet though.

So, what does this actually mean gopherlady? Are we getting another recruit?

It just means there's a rumor out there...kind of like the Michael Carter one ;). We could get another guy - but there's been no confirmed facts yet.

I've told you everything Johnny Gopher has told us, and will post anything else he sends. It's not one of those "I know something you don't know things," we just don't know a whole lot - just that there could be another kid that signs. The day's already 1/2 over, if there is, we won't have to wait long!

It's nice to see another great recruiting class come in...because these are the boys that we're going to be counting on when we play USC in the future...

We Want One More

We have 30 minutes until the scheduled press conference announcing the class. I really hope that Brew can pull one more 3* or 4* rabbit out of his hat today.

Go Gophers!!!

You know a kid can sign after today...remember Pryor last year? Most likely at the end of the day this will be our class, but I'm just saying IF they are working on this "rumor" kid, then it may come another day.

Not even counting in the specific "class" is Zack Mottla, the prefered walk-on Center from Cretin. He may not be ranked very high on rivals or scout, but ESPN still has him ranked at the #9 center in the country....and we got him as a walk-on. Not too shabby there by Brewster.
