"Brennan Franklin, a linebacker with scholarship offers this past winter from the likes of Wofford College, Eastern Kentucky and Robert Morris, leaves home Friday for State College, Pa., a journey that casts him as a symbolic figure in the worst college football scandal ever."
Maybe it's time to retract all those statements about "they'll be fine," and "they'll be back on top in no time at all". PSU is sunk...
It's not the worst college football scandal ever, because it's not a college football scandal.
I agree with you 99% of the time but I don't understand the logic of saying that its not a college football scandal. People looked the other way because they wanted to protect the image of the football program. Had Sandusky been a Biology professor he wouldn't have received the same treatment.
I can see the debate as to whether or not the NCAA had jurisdiction to give sanctions but in my mind there is no doubt that its a college football scandal.

Was the sexual abuse(and subsequent cover-up) in the Catholic Church a 'Religion scandal'?
Not sure if that is supposed to be a rhetorical question but given that Catholicism is a major religion I would qualify it as a "religion scandal".
In this case, it would not be Century 21 real estate agents and co-workers, but rather employees of the highest positions covering up the abuse. And furthermore Century 21 would then have to have a larger governing body insurance association. And if the heads at Century 21's image is tarnished, the association would be as well. Semantically speaking, this is not a "college football scandal," but associationally speaking, it is. And Penn State football leadership represents not just Penn State football, nor Penn State employees, but also NCAA college football, and NCAA employees. Just my (rare) two cents.

Let's try it this way. If a couple of real estate agents at Century 21 abuse children(and their co-workers help to cover it up) is that a real estate scandal?
BTW Century 21 is a major real estate company.
Back on topic.... Justin Brown will transfer to Oklahoma. PSU's leading returning receiver is gone:

Yes, because priests used their position of trust as part of a religious organization to gain access to children. Just as Sandusky used his position of trust as part of a football program to do likewise. And in each case, the leadership hierarchy failed to act to protect the "image" of the organization.

Zach Bradshaw decomitted for 2013. Possible Michigan State recruit.
Is there a specific date to which the current players have to decide to leave with all eligibiltiy/transfer benefits or is it open ended? There are obvious benefits of leaving sooner, but curious if someone could leave mid season or next season.
