To me, the move just doesn’t make sense for the MWC….they split their pie two more ways. They have to compete with good programs. To gain what?

With all the teams leaving the MWC to the Pac 12 (version 2.0) don't they need schools to meet the minimum NCAA quotas for some aspects and/or give them a cushion when others bail?

I thought they got one. But if they didn’t that would’ve been what it gained them.
I actually think it was the pac 12 looking for an 8th team but I think they got one

MWC was fine once they added UTEP and made Hawaii a full member. It was the PAC that was desperate, and added Texas State.

What's the closest MWC school to the xDSU's? Wyoming?

This is all trickling out long after the fact. I think this scenario would have played out in the event that UNLV and Air Force left the MWC. The MWC would have in effect paid the $5 million fee to move from FCS to FBS for each school plus some additional sums for further investment in FB at those schools. In the end, MWC paid handsomely to keep UNLV and AF in the fold, which was obviously the better outcome for the conference. Long story short, it wasn't the intent to add xDSUs to the conference fold as it presently exists but more of an Armageddon scenario.

Would have to go to 24+ teams in playoff to get to this. Any mishap in a pre-season game would cost a team in polls of public opinion.

Pro sports don't have rankings.

No, to clarify:

the preseason game would not count at all for anything.

First polls would not be allowed to be released until before the first week of the regular season

They added Northern Illinois in football only?

Why not the XDSU in football only? Does that really still cost $5M? They have the Summit League for everything else, which is perfect for them with tourny in Sioux Falls
