NIT Game #3: #1 Gophers vs. #3 Southern Miss & Chip Armelin [ESPN, Tues @ 8:00PM]

Does anyone have any insight on the So. Miss team? How we will match up, what to look for, etc?

The board is full of simple score predictions and hillbilly smack. As a sophistimacated, edjacated man, I'm looking for more.
 



Looks like three of their four top scorers are Guards, or Guard/Forward combos. Should be a good matchup for us.

G #5, Watson, 15 ppg
G/F, #24, Craig, 14 ppg
F, #22, Brown, 13 ppg
G, #23, Brooks, 10 ppg
 

It's the type of team that can cause us trouble. Gophs need to mind their P's & Q's.
 

Pretty much, we lack height but our guys are thick and built like a football team. Very athletic and strong and an aggressive 2-3/3-2 zone. Lot of depth. We play about 10 guys. Honestly, this will be a good game w/ MANY lead changes throughout. It will be a 1 possession game w/ 2 minutes left.

The only time I saw Southern Miss was against NDSU and in that game they tried to press but it really wasn't very effective at all. They also didn't shoot the ball real well from the outside but did cause some trouble with their driving ability. EE and Mo will provide more size inside that should help to limit their driving ability and the size should be something we can exploit on the offensive end too. The NDSU game was a while ago but if they Southern Miss plays anything like they did that night and if the Gophers play well it should be a pretty comfortable 10-15 point win.

Where are you seeing this? I'd love to go if the tickets are free, but I've looked around and I haven't seen this confirmed yet. I even asked if the promotion was continuing for this game on the Golden Gopher Basketball Facebook page, but I haven't gotten a reply. If you could show me where you saw this, I'd really appreciate it.

Just found out I'm going to miss this game tonight. Disappointed, I was looking forward to the Chip show and Deandre going off against his old coach.
 

Southern Miss will play exclusively zone per Pitino on his 1500 show last night (that I am listening to now). Hopefully Andre can find his shooting stroke because we will need it tonight. The Gophers have struggled with zone defenses at times this year, but it's usually been when teams switch from man to zone during a game. One area that I'd like to see improvement from the Gophers is some crisper ball movement against the zone and hopefully finding a way to get some offensive boards as well.

Are my eyes deceiving me? Did Clemson really just rush the court? WTF is wrong with the youth of America?
 

Maybe I'm missing the significance, but 3 seeded Clemson just stormed the court after beating 5 seeded Belmont.

In an NIT game...
 

I need to get my eyes checked out. I could swear it looked like Clemson was storming the court over winning an NIT game against a 5 seed.
 

I almost want court storming banned forever after that embarrassment.
 

Who's up for storming the court if we win!?
 

They showed a wide shot and it looked like some of the student section were still up in their seats with a look on their face like "what the hell are you guys doing?"
 

NO No No No No No NO. no need to storm the court, That was pathetic of Clemson fans to do it, they won a got damn NIT game at home aganinist a team no where near better then them.
