Not really early when you consider they are in the Eastern time zone but part of it is probably because ESPN has the college slam dunk and 3 point contest on after it

In the eastern time zone, 7:00 is early. I figured it had to do with something else coming afterwards.

Sid Hartman: Knight says SMU will be a battle for Gophers

Bobby Knight was impressed by the play of the Gophers in their 67-64 overtime victory over Florida State in the NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

“I thought [the Gophers] played very well in critical situations,” said Knight, who is doing color commentary on the tournament for ESPN. “They had a chance where they could have been beaten, but they stayed away from it. They showed a lot of poise when the game went into overtime.”

Knight praised Gophers junior point guard DeAndre Mathieu, who scored 17 points and orchestrated the team’s offense.

“He did a good job … throughout the course of the game, getting the ball to people,” Knight said. “Minnesota’s inside game is pretty good. They played against a very athletic team in Florida State. They did a very good job in the game [Tuesday].”

Based on Rich's comments in the article talking about the NIT championship run and showcasing his brand. I fully expect Richard to try and force tempo with pressure defense and run n gun style. He's on ESPN on a day with no other collegiate basketball being played. Couple extra eyes on the program and a chance to be a media darling if they perform well.

ABC Richard, ABC. Get that coffee.


Does anyone know/recall if the NIT preseason tournament is early November? I want to take a trip out to NY sometime soon and that would be a great excuse to go out there.

NIT Season Tip-Off bookends Thanksgiving. Semis are Wednesday, Nov. 26, finals/3rd place are Friday, Nov. 28. Gophers will have to win 2 home games to get there.

Is there any new info on if EE will play? What about Oto? Teague was on kfan yesterday saying Oto's knee condition is more of a chronic condition that just doesn't recover well so he can't play back to back games. Also said in the lockerroom after the FSU game he was limping real bad.

EE is questionable, Pitino said Oto will be available again I think.

My friend is an SMU fan. He was going to come here and trash talk but I stabbed him before he got the chance.

Mo's gonna be key against Kennedy. Austin has a big head to head match up with Keith Frazier. Another good matchup with Mathieu and Moore. With that said Gophers are going crush it.
 

Kind of sad this will be the last game of the season. It has been fun to follow this team this year and I think the future is bright under Pitino. I'd love to see them win this one for Austin and I bet he has another great game. Classy kid and he'll be missed.
