Next Year

"Completely false. During Tubby's time at UK, Kentucky had 24 more wins than UNC."
I checked and you're right. I couldn't figure out how myself and many other fans got it in our heads that NC gained on us. A quick check revealed that UK did gain 24 wins during Tubby's 10 years. Tubby gained 16 wins over NC during his first 5 years and 6 over his last 5 years. During Tubby's last 3 years NC gained 15 wins on us which I guess made it seem like in our minds that NC under Roy boy was going to surpass UK under Tubby very soon. I will double check myself tomorrow but I am reasonably sure I have posted corrected information.
Looking back it seems that Matt Doherty's 27 - 36 record at NC from 2001 - 2003 was an act of mercy on the part of God towards UK. Also, I didn't come here to cause trouble. We normally don't play UM, UM is no enemy of mine. But UK fans were continually raked over the coals in the media and no doubt initially, on this very forum; for only wanting Tubby to maintain the program. We won't allow history to be rewritten. Tubby has never been as far as a final four with his own players. Also, your other two rebuttals? are easily recognized as no more than rhetoric with no factual basis. Don't worry, I'm not going to spend a lot of time on your board. I have some down time at work with absolutely nothing to do and am easily bored so I do apologize for butting in.

How did this post digress to Tubby's tenure @UK. Can't we stay on point? I'm in agreement that we have the personnel to play an up tempo game. To do that we need to, as stated be able to rebound but the other part of the equation is ball pressure and turnovers will allow us to run also. Tubby pressured much more with Nolan and Johnson on the floor and has really pulled it back with the current squad. He has tried to requit length since being here and with what he's bringing in next year "maybe" we'll see more ball pressure. I don't think you're going to see Moe and EE on the floor at the same time much next year. You'll se 4 athletes: Dre, Austin, Coleman/Chip and Williams and EE/Moe. Bench Oto, Welch and 2 freshman. I don't see Mav seeing the floor much...transfer?

Does anyone get the feeling this new Kentucky troll is nugget? Seriously, nobody cares about your quest for vindication.

I could be wrong, but I think Mo will split time with EE at the 5 and Williams will continue to play the 4 spot most of the time. You might see Mo and EE in the game together once in awhile, but I don't think it will be a lot.

My ideal starting lineup next year would be:
C - Mo
PF - Williams
SF - Austin Hollins
SG - Welch
PG - Andre Hollins

When Andre Hollins rests, Welch slides over to the point.

I'm pretty much with you but I'll go a little further.

Mo, Rodney and EE rotating at the 4 & 5 spots.

Hollins, Hollins, Welch, Coleman and Chip rotating at the 1 -3 spots.

That's an 8 man rotation. If Trevor returns he would rotate at the 4 & 5 with Rodney sliding to the 3 and going big for some match-ups.

We might finish in 8th place if we really improve! How thrilling. Tubby is washed up. Next.

Just win 50% of the games that were winnable without that much improvement and you are at 9-9, win four of the six and you are at 10-8. They really weren't that far off this year, they need to find a way to win the close ones though.

I really like Oto's potential and certainly see him getting into the mix as well, probably playing a little of 3 and 4 depending on who we are playing.

Our scoring margin in the B1G was -2.4 points/game, 8th in the conference. A modicum of improvement by just a few individuals could be enough to get that three point shot of margin a game needed to break even alone. Obviously other teams will improve, some will fall off, but I don't think any team is returning as much as we should, so that is a factor in our favor.

They just gotta learn how to close games, it's that simple. Whether you believe that will change or not pretty much determines how you feel about this team going into next year. Some will believe that improvement will take place, someone like Dre will take some leadership and get this team over the hump in these games. Some feel with the same cast returning, how can we expect any fresh leadership to emerge?

I can understand both perspectives. But if that leadership does emerge, we will be in for a solid year at least, I guarantee it. If that leadership never comes to fruition, then we will be in trouble and Tubby will probably be gone.

Oops, I had that feeling I forgot someone.

On the down side, if trevor does not come back we will be very thin in the middle. Better hope nothing happens to Mo or EE.

With Mbakwe
PG-Welch, 'Dre Hollins, Maverick
SG-Austin Hollins, Coleman
SF-Williams, Chip, Oto
PF- Mbakwe, Oto, Ingram
C- MO, Elliott
Without Mbakwe
PG- Welch, Dre' Hollins, Maverick
SG- Dre' Hollins, Coleman
SF- Austin Hollins, Chip, Oto
PF- Williams, Oto, Ingram
C- MO, Elliott
Looks to be a lot of potential there, especially if we get Mbakwe back. I don't know much about either of the incoming Freshmen so I didn't factor them in, but the X factor will probably be how MO comes back, (obvious) improvement from returning players, and if someone (I think one of the Hollins has the ability to do this) can step up and be a consistent threat to score 15-20 pts a game.
