News on Fred Hoiberg

WTH is wrong wit Doogie? Why does he hate Minnesota so much and if he hates it so much, why the hell would he stay here? People like him need a swift kick in the a$$ and shown the door. God, I hate people like him. Why would you go on a Iowa St radio and tell the world that covers a team that their coach would be taking a step down to go to? Even if its true (which I don't, the B1G is a STEP up from the Big12 and that means something), what does he gain??

He is the next Reusse. He knows Fat Pat's heart is about to tap out and we need a new snarky a-hole to make illogical statements in order to garner clicks. He's a journalist the same way that farts are music.

Totally subjective. Our last two hires came from Gonzaga and Kentucky. Illinois' came from Ohio. Iowa's came from Sienna. We don't know how this is going to turn out, but we're in better shape than when we got Tubby. If it was nearly as awful as some people make it out to be, we should just have stated the search with Saul Philips and Scott Nagy.

Where a program's last two hires came from is close to the bottom of the list in terms of ranking how desirable a given job is.

Being the 8th best job in the Big 10 isn't that bad, it's still better than most jobs in almost any conference.

Agree.

A lot of fans can't objectively evaluate this program's strengths and weaknesses though, and that detachment hurts the program overall.

The mindset that it's a job that just about anyone would be crazy to turn down is ridiculous, and has probably contributed to our lack of infrastructure support for basketball.

I completely agree, especially in this area.

Part of the problem is that the media in the town is a bit schizophrenic. On one hand, they talk about us being the 9th best team in the BT and on the other hand that blast the AD for not landing a big name.

With Sid fading fast into the sunset we need a new homer to replace him. Certainly don't see one on the horizon.

The problem with that comparison is Reusse is actually a decent writer, with some terrible click generating takes. Doogie is a very poor writer who is trying to take that approach. Something tells me it won't work out for him.

I agree, far too many in gopher nation accept mediocrity and refuse to look at situations objectively with regards to our programs. I think the Teague is making a statement and trying to find the best candidate for the job, but that might not be as easy as some think.

Tuesday morning, 9:00 a.m. @ the Good Times Cafe sat next to Prexy Kaler and State Senator Bonoff, who chairs the Senate Higher Education Committee that controls funding to the U. Said for the "right hire" boosters would cover the buyout, and have a practice facility by early 2015. No name mentioned as the "right hire."

Technically we got our last coach from the unemployment line.

The wannabe Walters is ticked off he didn't break the Tubby was fired news and now he's grasping at straws.
